Hiring?
I'm bored with the chicagoland area... and I want to move. Who is hiring detailers?

Mike I wouldn't call it rain but a little wet stuff did come from the sky, just enough to make the humidity real nice!Mike T said:DId any of you East Coasters get any rain today? It finally rained cats and dogs this morning. Now its back to being a oven outside.
Wasn't there a thread the other week stating that Autogeek was looking to hire some people? It's not detailing, but at least you would get to work with detailing supplies. Who knows . . . maybe there's an employee discount too?DS Detailer said:I'm serious here people!
Someone has to have some connections.
Try living in Louisiana, it rains like every other day and the humidity sucks.Meghan said:Well move south, you can detail 12 months of the year. We are snow free!!:awesome:
I'm in the mortgage business, you should see some of the calls or referrals I get for purchases. Especially Boca, you can be making well into the 6 figure range and be maxed out just trying to have a decent home let alone other expenses. Almost every deal I've had lately I've had to go stated b/c their DTI was so high.killrwheels@autogeek said:the problem with FL is the cost of living. Starter homes run 325-350k. Property taxes run about 5-8k on the home, and insurance is 2-10k. So unless you can make some serious $$$$$ , then I would only consider vacations.
South Florida is a lot different from the rest of the state. Already familiar with NY and Boston, family had a house in Nyack (NY) and we have a place in Hyannis (MA) that's oceanfront. Rarely go up, cold weather = miserable lol.MikeyC said:You Florida guys make me laugh.![]()

Try spending the $$$ it takes to buy a home here in the Boston area or even better yet check out real estate prices in New York and San Francisco. You'll soil yourself. Then you'll be thankful to pay what you do in Florida. Plus most homes in Florida are relatively new construction. Most homes in the Boston area are quite old with no A/C and no parking.
Plus, you have no state income tax. Sorry, you're just not going to get much sympathy out of me.
I'm very familiar with south Florida. I'm a UM alumni. Go 'Canes!!! Plus, my mom lives in Boca Raton during the winter.Surfer said:South Florida is a lot different from the rest of the state. :awesome: Funny though, property taxes on the oceanfront in Hyannis are cheaper then our house is here which is about 2 blocks from the beach. Just had a house I finished, was in a waterfront community but the house was on an interior lot on the golf course, friggen property taxes were about 110K a yearMikeyC said:I'm very familiar with south Florida. Where in Boca is your mom? I went to Lynn University if you know the area, small private college right near FAU.
Weird, grandparents lived there when that community was 1st being built about 15 or years ago. Then moved to Le Lac right behind Broken Sound, and now there back on the water lol. Ask your mom if she heard about the dude who was running a brothel out of his house in Broken Sound (think in the Oak Run section), was caught a few months agoMikeyC said:Yeah, property tax rates are lower in MA compared to FL because we have state income tax. Property values are also MUCH higher in MA so it costs more to buy a home.
Anyway, I've driven by Lynn a couple of times. My mother's place is in Broken Sound which is between Yamato and Clint Moore not far from the mall.
