Is Geek level cleaning worth it on white paint?

Coming from a black car where if you put in the time to wash, protect, layer, use QD’s you say and got instant gratification (for at least an hour or day or so).

You don’t really see it in a white car right away or get that same warm and fuzzy feeling like you do with other colors. A 20 or 21 summit white camaro parked 3 spots down at work.

Didn’t think much but when I went outside my car was literally glowing compared to the other one. Mine was washed and topped on Monday. This one just came from a car wash as i could see the usual spots dripping.

I don’t think 90% of people wouldn’t see a difference but for a geek.... night and day different.

My cars not even polished or coated yet. This is getting my detailing Mojo back and excited for the polish and coating.

Yeah I saw a V6 1LE and talk to the guy. Coulda got an SS for same price.... not 1LE. His thinking was I’m not gonna be able to use the horsepower more than I would use the handling so that was car for him.

I stopped judging people on power plants and shifters based on what I like because for whatever reason they bought that car it was right one for them.

I haven't/won't own a white car, but I used to question whether it was worth it too. Then I detailed a white pearl Genesis G90 and an Alpine White BMW 330. Both of them showed a remarkable difference when the jobs were complete. Your description is good. They "glowed" and looked like glossy, fresh-fallen snow. The owners of both are NOT geeks by a big margin, but both were blown away by the difference and commented on the white looking so fresh and crisp.

Depending on my wife and daughters schedule this weekend, my plan is to polish their white X3. It’s been a while since it’s been polished but the last time I did it I used Wolfgang DGPS, the white really did glow!

This time, polish with BF One Step and 2 coats of 303 Graphene then a coat of DoDo Diamond White Wax.

OCD for the win!

My secret sauce is a hybrid two-step polishing method (newer cars) if not using a compound (older cars).

Basically a cleaner polish followed by Carpro Essence or Xtreme Solutions LVR 404. Let cure and top it with whatever you like. My own white cars had a ceramic coating applied. And on clients’ vehicles, a light-ceramic was applied or a ceramic infused wax.

Most of the gloss and reflection is from
polishing. Even when my cars are filthy, they’re shiny. Think of a dirty mirror. Yeah, you can still see yourself even though it needs cleaned.

Proper washing methods and a topper to maintain the coating. CarPro Lift is amazing and brightening up the finish.
No swirls anywhere on the surface absolutely attribute to the gloss factor.

It all depends for me. If it’s a metallic pearl that everybody does, yeah then I think it’s worth a geek types experience. However if it’s just flat white to me I won’t spend as much time polishing the car as I would other colors. Certainly wouldn’t do a 2 stage polish if the paint is in good shape and less than a year or two old, a quick polish with Meg’s 205 then I’d head straight for the LSP.
