Is it better not to wash your car every week? (Your Thoughts)

During the non winter I wash all three of my vehicles once a week, at worst every 10 days. During the winter I wash/blast them off once a week at worst, aim for every few days depending on the salt. Blasting them off with just the power washer at the DIY does great, especially with a sealent underneath.

What sealent do you use underneath?

I wash once a week as if was a religion. I also work 80-90 hours a week while raising children. If I can find the time to wash my two vehicles on a weekly basis then anyone can. It is true that the best case scenario would be to never touch your paint because it never gets dirty. This is not gonna happen in my lifetime! I wouldn't sleep at night if my truck had TWO months of filth on it!

One of the times I went to Meguiar's 101 classes. Mike Stoops walks around looking at the cars to see which one will be worked on for demonstration purposes.

Well he walks to my car and me right next to him. He says something along the lines up, what's going on with your car????!!

I say idk what's wrong with it? He says it's dirty!!! lol,(just extra extra dusty in my eyes lol)

I think he does daily detail maintenance to his cars, plus he has the Meguiar's Garage lights don't know if he uses them or not though, which show everything!!! I just had an incandescent light bulb and the garage door open lol, so mine shouldn't count as much haha :P. I do more weeky or biweekly washes :D

What's better is not to touch the paint unless you think its necessary. I've found with a coating (and not topped with freakin wax!)...I can go at least twice as long as before I was thinking old school. In fact, I usually can do a bucket less wash (presoak with citrus based foam, rinse off with high pressure washer, final wipe with waterless wash) ...and save even more time.

I'm not justifying coatings for their longevity claims...but WOW do they ever make maintaining the paint soooooo easy. That alone has sold me on them for daily drivers.

I go every week when the weathers nice,it was a long hard winter,so they hardly were touched from Dec to about early March.i never bring them too a car wash

I wash my cars whenever they are dirty. These days with all the pollen in the air and the occasional rain shower, I can only get a week or two. My black car gets washed almost every weekend because everything shows up so much worse.

I keep hoping the weather will get to a point where I can just do a quick waterless wash on a Saturday morning, but the rain induced road grime and heavy pollen keep driving me to drag out the hoses each time.

Seems like I always getting scratches and etchings that require compounding every couple years so Im not too worried about wash related damage.

I try to regular bucket wash every week or two weeks max if I didn't get to it - weather permitting. In the winter, it's much less due to the northeast cold, and I resort to ONR when I can no longer take it!

I do believe regular washing the car is better than leaving dirt on it. It only takes one event (drive through tar patch, road paint), and you MAY NOT even notice such contaminants on your car, until you started the car washing process as you are close and intimate with the paint.

With a coating, you should be much better 'protected' than sealant or wax.
