is my 7424 defective

I just got a porter cable 7424 and I'm not sure if it is defective or not. There are 5 clicks between each speed settings from 1-5 but from 5 to 6 there is no gradual adjustment (it's either 5 or 6). That doesnt seem correct but I have no clue...Anybody out there with one that can tell me if they have the gradual speed adjustment (5 clicks) between 5 and 6...

absolutely normal, no clicking in between 5 and 6...
 
I thought the same thing, called and everything was good

it is desinged that way because there is a big difference between 5 and 6....you need to know when you make the jump so one big notch instead of small clicks....

i almost never use 6, i always go right to 5, so its easy for me to know where i am at with the designe of the dial....
 
Same thing here...5 to 6 is just one click away.

I also never really use 6. It's too loud and violent with the vibrations.
