Is spray wax all I need after prep?

For example I hit up my brothers neglected black Nissan maxima's hood with UWW+. He was doing a normal wash and I was showing him the waterless wash option. There is and was no protection on this car at all. I did the hood. He wasn't sold on it as he did not think in his head it was getting as clean as a traditional bucket wash with gold class soap. When he sprayed the car after I did the hood it beaded, but the rest of the car did not. However after he washed it his way and rinsed it, the beading was already gone, like the gold class washed off the polymers of the UWW+. So definitely not long term protection. Not the same product but some people talk about that product having protection and well it surely didn't look like it to me.

With many of these wash products having carnuba in them or some other form of a wax or LSP and with frequent, weekly, use of said products, do you really need an additional LSP in order for the car to be protected?

The real question to be answered is; If you clean your car every other day, how much additional protection do you really need?

Exactly why I asked this question.

You've just about sold me on Optimum Bob. How come you also use Meguiars? I didn't realize Optimum was made by a Memphis boy. I figured it came from Europe.

I typically use a waterless once or twice a week just so I dont have to pull out the buckets but once a month.

Not really but now since using the Duragloss Aquawax I love to apply it often just to keep the paint slick and if I was to get hit with a bird bomb it would be easier to remove, besides it's so fast to apply it:dblthumb2:
