Is there any hope?

Well, though this sucks.... it looks a ton better. Great turn-around.
For me, depending on the age of the vehicle, I may let it slide.

That sucks man. This is why I am against back up cameras. People rely on them too much. I look back physically never use them when I get into a car with one. My car does not. Looking much better

they are good for certain things but def don't want to rely on them only

My car doesn't have any cameras... But I've driven vehicles that do and I don't think they're part of the problem at all.
Just the other day I was trying to back out of a shopping center with a tiny parking lot right next to a brick wall while it was pouring rain.. Windows all fogged up and I couldn't see a thing, I sure wouldn't mind 1 of those cameras in situations like that.

Besides, how the heck could they be a problem if you're able to see live video of yourself backing into a wall? Anyone who can't pay attention to that probably doesn't care too much about their car.

your kia doesnt have the back up camera? i thought all the models had them now?

This is as far as you will be able to go with any polishing. The next step would be having the body shop sand and paint it. So the question is can you live with it with the way it looks right now? Or do you absolutely have to have it perfect? That is going to be a $400 fix minimum at a body shop, and we all know that you get what you pay for when it comes to body shop work.

not really, i had great luck with the right touchup paint and the scratch repair kit they seel at walmart. they give you a small strip of wet sanding paper and two polishes. its this easy

fill the scratches with touch up paint.

let cure for a week then lightly wet sand them for fifteen seconds

use compound one

then compound two

all by hand, if you follow the directions it comes out perfect. even on my black paint

Nope, it's the GDI model, which is the least equipped version. No camera, no foglamps, no swirls.

I'm back for an update! I really went at it with the Meg's Ultimate compound and a DA. I think I got it to as good as it will ever be without some sort of touch-up solution. Appreciate everyone's advice--it got me back to a pretty tolerable defect that I can live with. Any recommendation on a touch-up solution, or advice on if that will work? Pics of the current state below.

Here's the first pictures right after the scrape:

Nicely done. I had a similar problem on a friends csr earlier this week. I was able to get all of the transfer paint off and the scratches polished out. This is an incredible site. Thank you all for your comments and input. Phil
