I'm looking into getting a PC. This seems like a great starter package. Are there better options out there? Point me in the right direction

Thanks
David

Porter Cable not computer. My bad :-)

Id go with an iMac over a Dell with Windows 8 if it were me.

I made my own kit on AutoGeek. That way I was certain I would get the pads I wanted. I have never used those pads in the link, but you should probably get 5.5" and 4" pads to maximize the PC. Plus AG's service and shipping is second to no one. They also price match btw.

Are smaller pads more effective? Less surface =easier?

I have used AG so far for my detailing supplies. I had someone recommend the hex logic pads. I have no idea what kind of pads I need :-( so many choices

You might want to take a look at the Groit's Garage DA--more power than the PC and a lifetime warranty.

It is my belief that flat pads work best on DA machines since heat build up is not as big of an issue. The LC flat pads are durable, easy to use and easy to clean. I use them and Hydrotechs more than anything. I don't have a ton of experience behind a polisher but I sure do love to try products!:buffing: In Mike Phillips' first book he does say that product choice and technique are more important than the pad used. Good luck!:dblthumb2:

5.5" FLAT pads for general polishing/compounding especially if you're going to get the PC since it is under powered, but even with the Griots it's the size of choice.

4" for tighter areas and spot correction. 3" for even smaller areas although you have to be careful as it removes clear quickly.
