Is this considered water beading?

So sunny SoCal decided to rain today so I decided to check out the water beading on my car at work today. Car was topped with WGDGPS about 3 weeks ago without a wash because there was a forecast of rain so there's a good amount of dust when it rained. Question I have is that is this considered water beading?

Reason I ask is, it doesn't look like those nice beadings that I see posted on here. Do you only get those really tight beading on a clean surface? Just wondering. This was the hood of the car.

Yes that is beading. You tend to get better beads on a clean surface, but that doesn't look too bad.
 
Do you guys consider this normal after 3 weeks? But I guess I will have to wash the car first to see what it looks like. I guess I was expecting better beading. Would like to hear your input. Thanks.

Water beading, in my opinion, also kind of relies on how well the paint surface is prepped. I may be wrong, but that's my thinking.

After my car gets its occasional clay and sealant treatment, rain and hose water seem to dance on and off the paint, lol. But I have noticed that if my car is really dirty, the water tends to "stick" because of the dirt on the paint. Once my car is washed, the water beading goes back to normal in most cases.

The water beading in your pic looks pretty satisfactory to me, though, but I'm usually most critical of how my paint beads, lol. I'm goofy like that.
 
The beading is a pretty uniform pattern and mix of small, medium and large sizes. Most beads are circular. What I like most are the smaller beads. I tend to subscribe to the theory that smaller beads indicate a strong LSP, and eventually they will diminish in volume as the LSP diminishes/degrades.

Overall, looks very good to me.
 
Sorry about the quality wish I took a second picture when I took this one. I never went back and looked at I didn't know it was blurry.
 
The pictures that you guys posted was what I was looking for on my vehicle. I'll wash the vehicle this coming weekend and see what it looks like on a clean surface and post a picture update.

Keep in mind, most of use are using waxes with some carnauba in them. Some sealants sheet (release) water better than the bead it.

I've used WGDS before, but I've always topped it with a wax. So I can't comment on how it behaves on its own. If your looking for tight beads, top it with a wax. You won't have a problem finding a recommendation here.

I plan on topping it with a wax after the next maintenance wash. Received my order of Fuzion, I hope its worth the hype, can't wait. :xyxthumbs:

But according to all of these comments, it looks like its beading like it is supposed to. I just didn't know that a sealant and wax both give different types of beading. I learn something new everyday.
 
Some products bead much better than others. Some bead so strong they increase chances of water spotting. I would never recommend someone buy a new product to get increased beading.
