...or am I on crack?

First hand wash after Pac NW winter. Used Dawn.

Is it possible that Colli 845 did not get fully cleaned away? I know it lasted pretty well, applied Nov, but can it sustain a Dawn attack?

Possible?
Probable?
Likely?

It's possible...

Besides the soap there are other factors like "how you washed"

  • Aggressively
  • Carefully
I talk about this in my how-to book and here,

Do you wash cars differently?

:xyxthumbs:

I'm not sure what you are saying...are you simply saying that you still have beading? Or do you have unbuffed wax from the fall? I can certainly vouch for the fact that an unbuffed high spot of durable wax like M16, Collinite 476 or 845, can last all winter and through washings.

ROFL :laughing::laughing::laughing:

sounds like me in my BC (Before Christ) days.

Just go over it quickly with some clay. That'll remove any wax left on the paint.

It's taken me multiple washes to fully strip an LSP with Dawn before. IME its really not THAT great of a product to strip LSP. I would use a dedicated shampoo like Chemical Guys Citrus Wash RED to help strip LSP's or just use some Optimum Power Clean in your wash solution :)

I'll soon be in the same boat planning to strip 2 LSP layered (Power Lock on P21S) by non mechanical washing methods, just so I can try out other waxes I haven't opened yet. I bought some CG Citrus Wash and Gloss and some Griots paint prep (the clear stuff in the Griots spray bottle). I figured 2 products should work better than 1.
