Is this me? Edge 2000

I believe that 100 posts gets you labeled as a "Senior Member", nothing more. Except for the gatitude of your fellow forum members for being an active participant!

Wow, so you guys didn't get your free jar of Souveran when you hit 100 posts?

Those of you with the Edge 2000 pads... Im thinking about getting these and had a question. The locking mechanism in the center... is it exposed to the bottom side of the pad through the center hole? Meaning.. if someone was to use too much pressure, Im a more athletic person and have been known to do this by habit, can that center metal deal possibly touch the paint?

Thanks..

well the video gets the point across and i did learn something new, but that video was terrible lol

They're not all Emmy award winners! lol But at least it demonstrates the system clearly. :)

lol... it does make the system slightly more appealing but i dont see any problem with velcro for myself other than not wanting to maybe hit the backing plate, which is rubber or whatever on the edge anyways, or getting it off center, which doesnt make much difference on a random orbital anyways...

I disagree 100%. The centering does make a difference even when using an R/O. The performance of the machine won't necessarily suffer if the pad is not exactly centered, but it will vibrate more which makes things uncomfortable for you. I know since I switched to Edge pads my PC vibrates MUCH less which makes polishing a much more pleasant experience for me.

Also, if you've ever had a pad delaminate on you then you'll know why you don't want pads with velcro.

counter weight

Thanks to this thread I ordered my first pad kit, the Edge 2000. I am expecting my PC in a week, do I need counterweights? Do I need anything more than the PC out of the box and the Edge kit?

Thanks

Marc:-)

Youll be good to go when you get the PC and the Edge kit... the PC comes with the counterweight already on it.
