Is this pad still dirty?

I've rinsed this pad out under hot water a few times and worked it from the center out and hit it with dawn power dissovle and let it soak a couple of hours and when it dries it still has these white-ish edges. Is this normal or is there still sealant in it? The pad was used for DG 105/601 combo.

Photo quality is low but it's a LC flat black pad. If it's not fully clean yet, do you have any tips to getting it clean?

If you store it in a ziplock bag that is labeled with the product used and use it on the next job with the same product you should be be ok. I use the universal pad washer which really works well at removing product.

Soak it in mineral spirits overnight. Overnight is important. Then remove and scrub with a pad brush. Rinse out MS with water best you can. Then soak in isopropyl 70% for 12 more hours. This process has removed everything I've thrown at it. Including the hardest to remove sealants and has returned pads to their new color... It's never hurt that glue on the Velcro either - in my experience.

After all you've done to it, I'm pretty sure it's as clean as it's going to get. In fact, it looks discolored.

My plan is to just designate this pad to dg 105/601 but I wasn't sure if it would cause problems next spring when I get it out again and the pad wasn't fully cleaned out.

OMG! I'd buy a pad washer like Eandras before I did all that.

I would too if I was using pads frequently or doing this for a living. But I primarily am cleaning hand applicators. Don't need to use a buffer that frequently.

You know I thought about this a little more, and I changed my mind. If I didn't have a pad washer, or it was a hand applicator, I would THROW IT OUT before going thru all that. YMMV.

:iagree: Ed's spot on with this!

As much as I complained, ranted, raved then held my breath until I turned blue over the cost of these pad washers, I DID succumb to pressure and am still amazed at how nicely they do work....:props:

I have the universal pad washing system. I used one and couldn't believe how clean they come out.
