Is this paint oxidation? Need Help identifying what this is

Hello Guys,

I'm prepping to detail my Camaro SS/RS this weekend (yes this pics are of a dirty car), but while vacuuming it out today I've noticed some things I want to run by you. A)What is it? B)Should it buff out with a 4" pad and I can just call it a day?

And finally.. what is with Jetseal109 causing this? How would you remove it?
 
The paint on the door sills is extremely thin, I hope you have a paint thickness gauge on hand. Also, I doubt it's oxidation due to it's rarely exposed to the sun.
 
I try to never polish door sills....just cleaner wax. As Scott has mentioned the clear is very thin in the sills.
 
Well I can say the last time this thing was buffed out was not by yours truly but by the crummy body shop that replaced my right front fender... I hope they didn't burn thru the clear.
 
hard to say for sure from the pics...those areas tend to hold water/soap if not wiped out ( at least that's my opinion from dealing with my wife's SS) is it possible it's soap residue/build-up?

That's what I'm hoping. I see it in the jams and under the trunk lid too. With that being said, would a good hit with a soft brush and APC do the trick?
 
Probably. You can also try a compound with a MF by hand. I wouldn't hit it with anything too aggressive until you know it will remove.
 
Just wipe it with water on a MF towel. If it doesn't come off it's not dried on soap. Second try a cleaner wax.
 
You mentioned a crummy body shop respraying a panel? perhaps it's dried up wet sanding water from them sanding orange peel before buffing.

A lot of body shops let the utility kid clean that stuff up so a lot can be missed. That's what it looks like to me, and maybe a slight rotary burn on the right side of the second photo or perhaps it's just a smudge of polish not wiped off or just a reflection of something. Kind of a blurry photo so it's hard to tell.

Have you tried simply washing this stuff off yet or are you burning energy thinking worst case scenario? As you feed more info into the thread, you'll probably get better answers. If a wash didn't clean it off I'd go to a diluted APC, if that doesn't work I'd step it up to odorless mineral spirits.

If none of that does it then get a few new photos and come back and update this thread and ask more questions.
