Hello all! This is my first post. I have been lurking for awhile, and due to information overload I will be asking a few questions to the resident experts. I have about $300 in my shopping cart right now and before I purchase these items I would like to hear your advice.

As of now I will be purchasing:
Klasse AIO
Klasse SG
S100

The steps I will be using to detail my car will be:
Wash>Clay>Polish>Seal>Wax

So my question to you is about the wax. I have heard so many good things about Souveran Wax Paste. But with my car color I am not sure if this is the right one for me. The paint is a 3-stage Resedagreen Metallic with Pearl. It’s a deep color with a slight change in color in the sun and shades. I do not know if the S100 will be significant enough, or if I should splurge and get the Souveran paste or liquid.

With that asked I am unsure of what pads to purchase. I will be getting the 7424, and I believe all I need are a polishing pad (grey?) and a finishing pad (white?) as my paint is pretty stout and the swirls are very minimal.

Also another question I have is about Clay. I have heard it’s usually only good for one application since it contains contaminants after one use. I love my car so I want to treat her right. Before I have reused clay bars, and did not think to throw them away after.

Thanks for your help, and I will be using the search function.

Here are a few shots of my paint color.

For that color and flake I would go DP MaxWax of Pinnacle Sig II to really make the flakes "pop". As for the clay you can reuse them until they a very dirty, mead the clay (same as making dough) to bring out fresh clean clay. What I like to do is cut the clay in half and use one peice until I feel it is no good, I don't through it away just yet I would still use them for rims to remove brake crap. Like the prey Mantis lol

Cool color. The paint looks to be in good shape in the pics.

Where the heck did you find a praying mantis? Did he just "jump" onto your car?

I would try Liquid Soveran, Sig Series II wax, or MaxWax.

That BMW is beautiful! What year is that? And are those Sparco/Corbeau/Recaro seats? I want to see some more pictures of it, if you have them.

In regards to wax, I really have liked Natty's Blue. I have a black truck and the results were great. Very easy on, and ever easier off!

Thanks for the compliments. The car is a 1979 E21 320i with a built M10 2.1L NA motor. Yes, the seats are Corbeau's. You can find more information about my E21 at http://www.cardomain.com/id/blitzed310

The Mantid smacked my window during a canyon run in Angeles Crest, actually scared the crap out of me when it hit the window. When I got home he was where you see him now, and that green goop coming out of him was from impact. I tried to save him, but it was no use. RIP little buddy :( .

Please keep the reply's coming, its appreciated.

I also own an 86 E24 635csi with a built B35M30. I have yet to take nice photos of this beauty.

WOW!!
It almost looks as though the mantis is laying her eggs on your car.
Hope I'm wrong:o

Haha, its actually the guts. From what I heard the green ones are the males, and the brown ones are females.

This guy had his eye on me during those pictures, he was following me around with his eyes, he looked pissed.

Very nice, I enjoyed looking at your Cardomain website. Great pics too, was it magazine featured?

Yes it has, if you refer to the last page I list the articles it has been in. Its been in full feature spreads in Eurotuner, Performance BMW, and Bimmer Mag.

Gotta agree ... Sig Series II would make those two beauties shine. I like to call the color "light mountain dew" ...

Ive taken a liking to "baby$hit green". Its a favorite in the E21 community.

I don't even want to know how much you've poured into that thing!

I wouldnt tell you, I'd just ignore it. Thinking of that is not good for my health.

Nice car bro... definitely get some max wax. I love that stuff. It seems a lot of BMW guys start off using AIO/SG. Did you happen to read the sticky on bfc? AIO/SG is nice stuff, but I definitely don't use it as much since I have learned about other goodies.

Yup, that’s why I'm here. I need to get familiar with all this stuff before I dive into it.

There are just so many valid opinions to either get this type of wax or the other. I haven’t decided yet, but I need to very soon.

There are DEFINITELY so many choices to choose from. What are you looking for and how much time can you devote weekly? If you want protection for a couple months and all you can do is wash weekly, sealants are awesome. For sunny socal weather (80's today), I like a wax. A high quality wax works best when you apply every month or so, because it does not last as long. If you want a sealant AND a wax... that works too.

Sealant for durability - AIO/SG
Wax for looks - Max Wax
Sealant AND wax - Wolfgang deep gloss sealant and max wax

Are you sure the mantis was trying to 'jump' on your car? I think he's waiting to be eaten. How is the Crest these days? Have not been up there in a while, and it was starting to get a little to crazy then. Prefer the road to Ojai now.

Love both cars but I want the six. I have always thought that was one of the classiest car designs in motoring.
Welcome to another addiction, at least this one should be cheaper.

PS: Get a good carnuba, Pinnacle or Max Wax

Thats a bitching car bro. I've been wanting an old 3 series like that. Or maybe even something like those 2002ti's from the early seventies. Someday maybe. Funny though I use to see a car very similar to yours, even down to the color, in the campus parking lot. Haven't seen it this year though but it was a cool looking car as well.
