Long story short I bought a car from a dealers auction and if you see wholesale auctions they always write #s and info on the windshield and windows. They used orange chalk on the windshield passenger windows and on the inside door jamb for some reason by the vin sticker and left a small mark by the exterior door handle for some reason I can’t figure out

Welp it was a pain but got it off the windshield with a little rubbing alchohol and elbow grease.

I used a little alcohol on the chalk in the door jamb to get rid of it but surprisingly a very very faint residue is still there that you can see when you put a light to it. Same thing with the small chalk mark by the door handle. It’s almost like it (orange chalk) stained the paint. Obviously can’t use a razor blade and fluid to remove it like most people do on windshields so….whats the safest way to do this without damaging or messing up the paint. Thanks!

It's not chalk.. instead its a grease/wax pen. with thta in mind try some goof off or goo gone.

Have you tried some IPA? Or panel prep? If it's grease/wax that's what I would try.

A tar remover like Stoners might work too. I think that is what I used when I bought a car once that had these strange colored dots marked on the windshield.

Most of those products should be OK on paint or trim as long as you aren't dumping it on and letting is dwell for a long time. I'd apply the product to the rag and try to remove the marks that way. They will leave a residue behind so you'll have to do some clean-up with a different product afterwards, like a glass cleaner, QD spray, APC, or trim product depending on the surface.

That sounds a lot better than my IPA idea, mineral spirits should work also (I think that's what's in most tar removers), I frequently use odorless mineral spirits on tar.

Tarminator could kill any protection on the paint so you'll need to reapply any LSP, if there is any.
