It's Back! '85 MR2

’85 MR2 UPDATE

Given that I used XMT extensively on this one I thought it would be a perfect candidate for the September Contest. The owner of this car was excited when I asked him if I could detail it again. Since the initial detail in April he has washed it but that’s about it. A few things have changed since last April; there was no XMT180 or UDM so guess what the lsp is on this one. Yep, this time around it got the full XMT treatment.

The car was not in bad shape considering that it has only been washed a few times since April. For 22 year old paint single stage paint it looked pretty good. This time around was a lot easier to detail. All the heavy duty work was done in the Spring. The paint was beginning to dull but that’s to be expected. You’ll see the difference that just hitting it with XMT360 made. I had a lot of fun doing this one. I hope you enjoy it.

Wash – DP Xtreme w/foam gun, dry w/Ultimate Guzzler
Polish –XMT360 with Orange Low Profile pad on the UDM
Glaze – XMT Finishing Glaze
Wax – XMT180 x2 by Hand
Tires – DP Wheel Gel – Black ShMitt, DG 265
Windows – DP Krystal Vision Glass/WW towel
Trim – PB Trim Restorer and DG 265

D2G - Thank you! The paint looked better in person than in the pics. I love the XMT360 and XMT180 combo.
Tonya - Jo-e keeps me on task. SS paint doesn't hold a detail for too long. Especially is it's not cared for between details.

Jimmie - I can tell you that it was much easier to detail this time around. The time consuming work was done last April.

I'm on my way to Keton Automotive in Huntley to pick up Meg APC for my wife.
She said it's the best cleaner around the house. Personally i don't like the smell of it but
if she's happy using it then it's fine w/ me. I'm also going to buy some Duragloss stuff in Woodstock today.
