It's never too late - A story of a GT3 revival and full body clear wrap

Very nice job!

I'm a bit confused with the old clear bra etching. Were you able to remove the line? And if so, how? Wet sanding? Or is it permanent?

Sorry I didn't clarify it in the thread like I intended to! Yes, the line was removed, sometimes this isn't possible due to sun exposure or various other reasons. Fortunately this was a garage kept car so a light wet sand and compound removed it's traces. Unlike another 911 where the original installer used a razor blade to trim the line across the whole hood :bash:

Incredible work!

My dad is considering having clear wrap applied to his entire Corvette. Anything he should look out for? Any reason not to?

He's planning on doing a bunch of road trips to Corvette meets across the US and worried about stone chips. He also won't be doing much detailing himself. I'll do it for him whenever I can, and he'll probably hire someone whenever else.

No real reason not to, especially with that kind of driving in mind. Where are you located? I can likely recommend someone who will do it the proper way. Unless he wants to ship it here :) You want a thoroughly experienced installer, I alone have done 54 of the new C7 Corvette Z06s alone, not including the Stingray and GrandSports could do them in my sleep at this point. It's all in the comfort level you guys achieve with meeting the installer in person, seeing their operation and previous/current work.

That's unbelievable, amazing turn around. What would that service cost? Worth every penny right there

Wow man that's some amazing work. How much would all this cost? If you don't mind me asking.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!

I've never heard of the entire car being wrapped, I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to know but what does a detail like that cost!!

Nice work! Amazing save on that hammered and abused Porsche.

I'm betting it cost somewhere between $6k-$8K

Probably closer to $8K or so with the detailing they did too.

Thank you guys! $8k is a solid accurate number for the clear wrap alone yes, this combination - not including the powdercoating of the wheels, new exhaust and removal of the old film the job was around $12k for the paint correction, clear bra, ceramic and paint touch up. (the other non detail related items were additional)

Will vinyl wrap become swirled in time just like cc?

All of the films, vinyl and clear, have the ability to become swirled over time, though not as likely as clear coat. All depends on the maintenance, I wouldn't expect to see anything noticable unless it was managed improperly.

Thanks for sharing that.

The owner dropped off a disaster and in turn received back an amazing better than new Porsche. Sounds like a sound investment to me :props:
