I've tried every "blank" on the market and this is the best!

It's not really helpful when they say it's "the best". I prefer it when they get a LITTLE more detailed and say, "I've tried A, B, and C, and out of all these I prefer THIS and here's why".

I just don't see the benefit in someone giving advice that hasn't used the product. Most of us here research the hell out of what we want to buy and have probably read the same review they are basing their experience off. It doesn't keep me up at night or anything.

There is nothing wrong with simply passing along good, sound, popular and accurate information, period. I don't need 5 bottles of Collinite 845 on my shelf to know it is an excellent, durable wax. The hundreds of posts around here are good enough for me to be convinced. The experience factor will work itself out over time. It's not too hard to identify and eliminate the comments that are shaky or downright false. Certainly, folks that frequent this forum would not stand for that type of behavior.

Lastly, consider that we are not passing along information that could destroy villages and lives here. As long as there is a basis of fact that exists behind a recommendation, and it is stated, a response from anyone (helping another person) is good enough for me.

Good conversation.

I guess it's just a matter of preference. If I post something asking for advice on a product I'm thinking of spending my money on I only want experienced users to chime in. I could comment on pretty much anything in this forum but I choose no to because I don't consider myself well informed if I haven't personally used it. I wouldn't be adverse to seeing something like, "Well I read this in another thread, here is the link." But l agree with you, lives aren't at stake and I don't lose sleep over it.

As for Cee Dog reviewing every car product under the sun...well I can't really argue against that one!
