My sister-in-law recently bought a 2016 Jeep Wrangler, and asked me what trim protection and she should use on it. Now I've heard Jeep trim can be PIA to dress & maintain. For those who have or have detailed Wranglers, what's your go to trim dressing? Or should I skip over dressings completely and offer to coat the trim for her instead? Thanks in advance!

God, pray she does not have issues with interior water leaks!!

Thanks, fellas. Keep in mind my question is for Jeep Wrangler trim in particular. Not trim in general.

For "new" black exterior trim...trim that's not
in the need of any restoration...I like using
non-staining Spray Waxes.

Spray Waxes like Optimum Car Wax;
and Meguiar's Ultimate Wax.

I would go with CQuartz DLux. Coat it and you, or she, won't have to maintain it like you would with dressings. Long lasting and it can stand up to the sun's heat month after month, especially on the top of the Jeep's fenders and bumpers.

I don't have the WG ext. trim sealant, but have heard great things about it.

Yeah, I'm leaning towards recommending WETS to her. I've used it and love it. Just wanted to see what the collective wisdom prescribed first. Thanks again everyone!

Paging Monica......

I believe many of the jeep people have had success with Penetrol from reading what Detail Kitty has written.

Yeah Penetrol was something I read about people using on a Wrangler forum. But if I'm going to recommend something for use a vehicle that's not my own, I'd rather it be a product meant for trim not oil based house paint.

Another vote for Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant.

Thank you, Sir!

LOL I'm here!

Yes, I recommend Penetrol.
It was originally discovered in the Jeep world.

Works awesome! :dblthumb2:

Solution Finish for the trim, i have tried a lot of them and so far the best one i have used is Solution Finish. Trust me you will never buy anything else

:iagree:

Dlux lasts over a year, not months. WG trim sealant is also excellent. Those would be my top two choices.

Pardon my bluntness, but the plastic trim on a Jeep Wrangler is literally no different than the plastic trim on any other vehicle. There's simply MORE of it than on a usual vehicle, so you have to be extra mindful of its appearance. Nissan Xterras had the same fate and it hurts to see one that has been neglected.

The suggestions to use Wolfgang ETS is spot on, but the biggest enemy of plastic trim is UV deterioration from sunlight.

If your SIL wants to keep the Jeep looking great, park it in the shade (being mindful of tree sap!) or in a garage.

If she (or her husband) regularly hand washes the vehicle, a followup with some OCW (on all painted and plastic surfaces) should provide a decent amount of protection.

Here...I'll repeat what I said earlier:

I like 303. I've had great success with WGDGLS. Great protection, durability about 6-8 months.
