Junk On Pads

On a separate note, although I have ordered plenty of product from AGO, I never really paid attention to where you guys are at. Turns out I was just around the corner from you about a month ago. I was visiting a company, EMC / Florida RF Labs. You've probably seen their sign right on 95. Next time I am out there, I'll have to stop by and check you guys out.
 
Holy smokes. Just when you think you are getting ahead...

Apparently my 205 has gone bad. And has been bad this whole time. I hadn't used it for probably a year. I was going back over the car today. I have my 105 working well now (a little dusty but ok).

So, now I am checking my technique with every step.

Finish looks acceptable and ready to polish. Take a couple of passes with 205 on white hex pad. Now it looks worse than the compounded finish. On to the computer to see if I have missed something.

As I am watching video of 205 application, I realize that the polish comes out pretty thick. Thick enough to stand up. My 205 is coming out like water. Priming the pad, the 205 would run off if I didn't act fast.

I don't know if it froze over the winter or if it got too hot this summer, but it isn't right.

I guess all I was really doing was dragging the pad around. Even though I could see wet, I am sure that it carried hardly any polish with it.

Off to Harbor Freight....
 
Just tossed it out. Bought some more at HF. Working like a charm now.

No amount of shaking would revive the old stuff.
 
A follow up to this thread. Once I got the 205 replaced, the work went well. Once I was done with the car and pulled it out into the sun, I could see where I went too hard on a couple of the hard edges on the passenger side doors. I now have some very thin spots. Not exactly sure how I didn't see this in the garage as I have good light and also was using LED swirl chaser to check my work.

Now I need to learn how to blend paint (or repaint) I suppose.
