Junkman's, The Mother of All "How to Fix Your Paint for Novices" Thread!

I think I may have used a bit more pressure last night than usual. may have also over worked the polish . and maybe not sure but one of the pads may have had dries polish. I am going wash the pads and try next weekend

Did you use a spray bottle as well?

Yes I did. Going to re watch the video just to make sure. Last time I polished a different area I got very little dust. I think it was a dirty pad. ill give an update.

Junkman, I just want to thank you for your videos!!! I'm completely new to detailing and before I only washed and waxed regularly (with horrible technique!). Now that you've shown me the light I've removed the swirls from my "new to me" black Mustang and will be keeping her swirl free for years to come!

Also, thank you for your service...much appreciated!

What recording equipment do you use? Me and my cousin were talking about making a video of how to remove orange peel.

A Sony HD camera and some halogen lights. This is a 'brutha' in his garage production'. We ain't fancy up in here. ;)

Junkman, here are a few ideas on future videos:

How to make a video.
How to clearly show the swirls on camera.
How to post videos on you tube the JM way
A blooper video (yeah I know you do it all in real time)

Since your videos are so informative, this would provide more insight.

Thank you sir. :xyxthumbs:

Just watched the video and loved the part that you said about "technique"

It's true. A lot of manufactures want you to think that their product is the main difference but you and I know differently. ;)

Update on dusting issue. reduced the pressure on the polisher. Used a bit Less polish. And used more detail spray. Also clean the pads two times. No more dust. Well very minimal. Results way better. Some times watching the video for the tenth time and asking never hurts

... Some times watching the video for the tenth time...

And I have said that countless times. It took me years to learn this stuff. If you think that you are going to watch a 2-hour video ONCE and start busting out perfect paint the first time you try, you are in for a serious wake-up call. You have got to watch my videos more than once. I cover way to much information for you to get it all the first time through.

I have watched that part of the Video countless times. and you are right about doin it in a week end. That is not going to happen. 3 weeks correcting paint and still go more to do.

Take your time. It's a labor of love, not a race.

the fix areas of paint on my car are better than those of some people's brand new BMW. It's sad to see jacked up paint.

So, so true. I've been working on my wife's DD the last two days. Today I started at 10:30 and stopped at 7:30. Whew, I'm beat.
