Junkman's, The Mother of All "How to Fix Your Paint for Novices" Thread!

Junkman, speaking of eating, I have a question about that delicious pork loaf you made at 3:20am. What else did you serve with that (to yourself presumably)? I'd love to serve that meal to guests.

Also, do you have another cooking video in the plans/works? Pork, chicken and kebob/filet videos are great, but we need more. All those detailing instructions make your pupils hungry.

... $19 for 2 hours isn't bad. That's a movie with popcorn/soda and a hot dog

😂

When I was 23, $19 dollars wasn't wasted on any strippers. You bought a Cheri magazine for $4.50 and not only had change, but you could go back for seconds and thirds. ;)

Thank god for the internet. So much Free information. Like here on AGO.

You know what...

So how about that, louisville won the NCAA. LOL

Beer can Turkey is good.

Just the beer leaves the Turkey really juicy but sour. So apple juice woul work better.

How's that work with a beer can stuck in the guts? Does the beer steam out of the can? I've heard of hot dogs steamed in beer. Interesting.
Junkman's pork loaf was a masterpiece. I am doubly impressed because I can't even make a piece of toast. Also, a man who can chow down 2 filets and 3 kebobs must have REALLY been sick from that spider bite if he couldn't eat for two weeks.

Stretch marks and bullet wounds? I'll take her phone number.

Correction: SEVEN (7) kabobs and 2 filets. Did you eat all that at one sitting??

I like using my wireless electric thermometer. To be precise with my temperature.

Then using a Dry rub (crunchy crust)

Here is a video (i like watching a bunch if videos and coming up with my own method)

I have done the beer can chicken (really fast am simple)

I have also made beer can turkey.

I bought a small turkey then used Foster beer can. Beer will give it a sour taste. (You might like it though so it's up to you)

Been wanting to try apple juice or cranberry juice. Maybe even a mix of them lol

Thanks for taking the time to make the videos Junkman. They were excellent. I picked up quite a few tips. I learned I was you waaaaaayyyyy to much compound. Why do you recommend a waffle weave towel for detail spray?

Because the plush towels do more drinking up and pushing around liquids that the waffle weave style towels do. Plush towels suck at absorption compared to the WW style towel. The WW towels evenly adsorb liquids and can evenly distribute them also.

Junkman: Your point is very well taken about understanding the time necessary to correct your entire paint job. So, if I decide to tackle my hood, or half a hood, over the weekend then move onto another panel the next, how am I treating the uncorrected panels for normal maintenance purposes? Let's say I have a sealant on the car. Do I do a two-bucket wash for the car but use a detergent (Dawn) only on the panel slated for correction at that time? Otherwise, my whole car will be stripped and unprotected for the sake of one panel. I would have to wax the corrected panel and then the rest of the car too, every weekend. I can imagine this project taking at least 2 months worth of weekends. How did you do this for your C5 during those 6 months you spent correcting your paint?

Gracias, Mike

It stayed in the garage for those 6 months because I don't drive it during the winter and I have another car I can use. I will say this though. As you start working on your car and your technique improves, you will get much faster at this. As for stripping all the wax off your car and driving it around with no protection, that's fine as long as you don't allow any tree sap, bird poop or anything else acidic to set on the paint. If you address that stuff as SOON as it happens, the only thing landing on your paint is washable dirt. I've done that on multiple occasions with no major issues.

This stuff takes a while the first time you do it but the upkeep should never take more than half a day. That's why you do the things considered preventive maintenance by NOT creating any more damage after you fix it for the first time. Again, once your technique is honed, you will be amazed at how easy it is to do the upkeep. I'm making a DVD right now that concentrates on that upkeep, showing what I would do inside and out if I was getting my car ready for a car show. It's going to be very detailed with a ton of information as that is what people keep asking for. It definitely won't be a quick watch but hey, how many of my videos are?. :D.

Looking forward to that DVD. Let us know when and how we can purchase it. Are you taking pre-orders?

The Junkman rules. Not only are his videos helpful but he makes them entertaining as well. For an old Marine he is Okay in my book. I love that picture of him, he looks like he could be holding a M16 in each hand. I'm happy he traded them in for polishers. Keep em coming Junkman!

It's good that his videos are international; clearly Junkman's a great ambassador. "Check out this clean-cut American and his Stingray..."

As I mentioned early on, I placed my first (and continuing) orders at Autogeek because of the Junkman. Dude is a Pied Piper. To have Mike Phillips and Junkman on one site.. doesn't get any better.

Nah... no pre-orders. I'll just bust out another video showing what's on it on my You Tube channel when its done. I will make it a 2-plus hour long production! :xyxthumbs:
