I see a lot of people recommending to buy the 5" backing plate and the 5.5" pads for the GG polisher. Can anyone explain to me why this is constantly recommended rather than using the backing plate that comes with it?
Wen I bought my GG a month or so back I bought an additional 3.5" backing plate and some LC 4" pads because I was going to use it on my motorcycle.
I haven't used the 6" plate yet but man that 3.5 worked great for the Bike.
The 5" plate is on my short list.
Answered above. This is somewhat related to this thread, but I have the 6 inch GG with stock backing plate.
Even though they are stated to be for the Porter, the AGO store pointed me to these backing plates.
I'd like to get either a 3 inch or 3.5 inch backing plate for polishing the smaller areas as you all know.
1. Would these plates be fine? YES
2. 3 inch or 3.5 inch? I say 3 inch, that way you could use 3 and 4 inch pads (someone correct me if this is a bad answer)
3. Would you recommend another brand of backing plate? These appear to be good, honestly I don't see much difference unless you're looking for one to work with microfiber pads
4. Any additional attachments/adapters necessary? no adapters, Adapters are only required if you're going from a backing plate kit made for a rotary/drill attachment to a DA (the screw on the back is changed between applications)
Thanks, guys.
What 3.5" plate did you get?
