Just bought some microfibers on Amazon.

They must be different towels than the ones I have. I tested them out on a cd then on my paint, no problems. It could be different regions in the USA sell different towels.

Have you tried them?
Yes, they're great for everything but paint

You would cry out of happiness.

No they would be sad tears. Those towels mar paint. Seen it happen more than once

Nah, they're all the same you just either have paint that's not affected by the towels or your lighting is off and you can't really see what it doing. IMO it's nap is too short for paint.

But as I always say if it works for you role with it! But for me those towels are engine, door jamb, and wheel duty grade. I bet a bunch of other would agree as well :)

The ones you tried must have been different than the ones I have. MIne are 36 count gold not yellow and they have a picture of a black coupe on the cover, I have never seen this type of coupe in America. They are kirkland branded not eurow towels.

Dude, I have the same towels, they're the same. In fact I have 3 packs of those towels for generally duty, I know them and many here know them well. Yes mine are Kirkland, yes mine have the car on them trust me they're the same. They're crappy towels for paint, if they work for you great. I'm just saying some folks shouldn't use them, there's better options out there for the same price that could touch any part of a car. :xyxthumbs:

Kirkland branded. Not manufactured. The Amazon listing I referenced above indicated that these gold towels, in the black plastic packaging with the coupe on the cover, were "by eurow". FWIW.

Costco towels are less than $0.50 each

Not to sound like a dbag, but what towels are you referring to?
I'm looking for some cheap decent ones and never tried Costco

Also since this is my first post, my name is Kenny from northern California (40 mins north of Sacramento) and I've been lurking here for a good 6 months, and really enjoy the knowledge and activity this board has to offer

:iagree:And don't ever use them on your glass.

The old "yellow" towels that Costco sold were indeed the Eurow 350's.
The new "gold" Kirkland towels are a totally different animal.
Both I believe are in the 350~360 gsm range.

The new ones are much better towels than the yellow Eurow towels for sure. Neither should be used on paint before washing and removing tags.

As far as marring goes, that totally depends on your paint. My red G paint will swirl when you look at if funny. Yet the Kirkland gold's can be used on it if you are oh so careful.

That out of the way, I know a guy that will only use the $8.00 Wal-Mart packs when he's doing paint correction, using the white towels, and will use them in their virgin state without washing them. I $hit you not! The cost factor of them over the Costco towels is enough to stop me from using them but the fact that they are total junk is even worse. I swear by everything I've ever known that for the life of me I can't understand how he gets away with it.

I've tried to use them when working with him but can't do it without it driving me nuts. (And I'll reach for my cheap Costco towels as they are a better option.) And this isn't some hack doing the DISO deal either. He's a very high priced local guy and does a ton of exotic cars. Yet he tends to get the result(s) he is looking for time and time again. (Normally using Menz SIP followed by PL or CQuartz and sometimes 105 or 101 if it's needed bad enough. Although back in July he had started using D300 and MF pads but didn't know to clean them with air along the way which is where we had a difference of opinion.)

With that in mind, I'd say it is possible to use not just the two versions of Costco towels but much worse quality of a towel yet still get very acceptable paint correction and LSP results.

Would these towels mar paint? Given enough pressure I'm sure they would. With the right touch though anything is possible. Had I not seen it in action I'd swear that you could never get away with cheap crappy towels (that are much worse than the Costco Kirklands or the Eurow Gold's) yet I've seen it, and even on soft Ferrari and soft Porsche black he'll use them. What is it they say about your technique? ;)

Oh and I saw the Eurow 660's were mentioned earlier. I've seen two versions of them, one is a bonded towel with deep pile on both sides. The other is like two separate towels only bound by the silk edging. The latter were the ones I picked up last fall and they shed something terrible! (Use them on glass and you'll hate yourself!) :eek:The ones that feel like a solid towel seem to be more sturdy and I noticed they don't shed so badly. :dunno:
