Just got my PC 7424 Poorboy's and Pinnacle

Just recieved my second order from AG. I've planned my honeymoon weekend with my 7424 to detail and do some light paint correction with my wife's car.

This is what I have:

PC 7424 Starter Kit.

PB complete kit.

Pinnacle Paint cleansing lotion

Pinnacle Sig II wax and piles of microfiber.
Feed back please

Plan is to clay with Mother's clay kit (already had)

Then start with white pad, XMT conditioner and PB ss1.

Then Pinnacle Cleansing lotion

Then PB EX-P

And on then on Sunday Two coats of wax.

I have Natty Blue and Sig II. Which one would you use? and does anyone disagree with my plan, or could offer some advice. She has a couple of heavier scratches none . Should I spot polish them with ss2.5 or just do the whole car with 2.5?

Project car is my wife's work commuter, which is a Toyota Yaris hatch in Meteorite metallic grey. Can't wait!
 
I heard that you shouldn't use a pad conditioner with pb polishes.. but i could be wrong

That is correct. No need to prime the pad with water,qd,pad conditioners, etc. when using poorboy's SSR polishes
 
honeymoon and buffer are not two words normally offered in the same breath.
 
Just finished the hood. It took me a little while to get the hang of the PC. First tried SSR1 with white pad, my wifes car winter car wash brush scratches were too deep for it.

I switched to SSR2.5 with a white pad. After two passes it looked great though hazy. So I went back to the SSR1 with a black pad. I was really impressed until I put the car under the flourescent garage lights. Just a few really light swirls remain. This will drive me crazy until I get them out.

Should I switch to the orange on the SSR2.5 on the rest of the car?

With the white my technique was applying a little pressure and slow passes on the 2.5 and the gray with the SSR1 with just the weight of the machine @ speed 6

I worked it till it dusted the windshield.
 
Try orange with 2.5 and white with 1, black pad has no cut at all, so it probably isn't breaking down those abrasives enough in SSR1 to remove the marring that 2.5 has left behind.
 
i had to think about which wax to use for a moment.....natty's blue good for dark cars, signature series II good for lighter colors and metallics. it depends on what you want to bring out in the paint, flake pop or depth.

It sounds like you are generally doing everything correct. I would be sure that the polish is broken down before you stop polishing because the dusting may not be a good source for you to stop. You should stop when the polish has completely broken down, which will look a little opaque with little to no hazing. Check out the link in my signature for blkyukon's web site to show you how SSR2.5 breaks down, a picture is worth 1,000 words. And if you don't like the results with a polishing pad, bumping up to an orange should be fine. Just keep in mind that the product will dry out faster which could lead to micromarring. Just take your time, use speed 6 and apply some pressure ... if you apply a lot of pressure and the pad stops spinning, your applying too much pressure. After some more experience you'll find the happy medium of pressure, between not enough and too much. Good luck.

Great tips! I was applying too much pressure and getting no where fast. I quit strong arming it and things went a-lot smoother. The black pad with SSR 1 was nearly useless. Changed to white. I will just have to wonder how much better it would have looked with a finishing glaze until winter when I start all over again.

Polish was quite a bit slower than I thought it would be. I still had to break out the rotary on a couple of scratches left from vacuuming at the local car wash (hose). I really expected a lot less dusting. May have had something to do with the weather ( 98 and steamy) I'll be adding a more aggressive polish to compliment these two.

You all have been so helpful, any suggestions on a glaze and more polish? - I've got three more cars to go!

And something to remove the polish from the black plastic!:buffing:

That and I am very satisfied with the product I ordered on my first order - The soap!
 
so you were able to do some paint correction using 6.5" pads with the PC? I seem to be having trouble using the bigger pads with the PC. Maybe it is me . . . someone suggested that i use smaller pads. Got any pictures of what you did?
 
The car is a 2007. Some of the paint transfer and parking garage rash had to be gone over with a rotary along with a bumper scratch courtesy of a car wash vacuum hose. The rest of the car had minimal (very light scratches) However, I was successful with three passes on some considerable scratches on a lower drivers side panel causes by a car wash brush. start to finish I have half a bottle of SSR 2.5 and two days of labor into it. Orange pads were a must. I wasted a lot of time and product by pressing to hard bogging the rotation. Things went a lot smoother when I stopped trying to muscle it.
I do not have before and after photo's but I will take some this weekend after another fresh coat of SSII.

There were some very light swirls on the top of the car that I intend to remove this winter. I too am anxious to try the smaller pads given the reviews read here, but I was able to do what I would consider to be a lot of correction with the larger pads.

Get the 4" pads for sure and some Menz 106 or SIP for more correction.
 
I feel another order squeezing my wallet! what about the Menz German gloss combo?
 
It includes the Nano 106FF and Wolfgang sealant. Will I need more Menz polishes? Next car is the 2008 Saturn Aura in Midnight blue.
I used pinnacle PCL and uncovered some hidden filler scratches from the dealer. I have owned the car two months. I would like to just do some spot polishing, sealant then two coats of NB.

My daughter is coming back from England this weekend so I will not be able to spend much time on the cars this weekend, but plan to hit it hard the next weekend.

It would be ideal to have the right products on hand before I resume.
