I have surgery today to get my pain pump replaced because the batteries are going to run out in a couple months. My daughter takes me because my wife couldn't leave work. My wife shows up before they take me into surgery. They take me back to a room before releasing me. My daughter walks in the room. I ask her where her mother is. Her response "she broke her arm" my obvious response is "yea right". Then I notice she isn't smiling, or ready to chuckle. Apparently my wife went outside the hospital to call the kids and fell and broke her arm. And of course it's a bad break...she's right handed so naturally it's her right arm. then the hospital I was at doesn't have a orthopedic trauma unit so they had to take her by ambulance to Harris hospital about 30 miles away (at least it's the hospital where my son works).
The worst part was my surgery wasn't scheduled until Thursday. They called me yesterday afternoon and said they had a cancellation today and asked me if I wanted to get it done today. Sure wish I would have said no and had it done Thursday.

Wow, that's rough - hope you and your wife are doing ok!

If it makes you feel any better - I had an emergency appendectomy the day my daughter was born (c-section sympathy surgery, as the joke now goes)....

Wow, Dave. Sorry to hear that your self and wife are in pain, and your daughter is probably naturally worried and stressed. I say, look to your family for support and be there for them when they need someone too.
Keep us informed, thank you!

That's a crazy story. Get well wishes to you both.

Thank you all so much. It's tough to see a loved one in pain.
An appendectomy when your child is born...that's rough too.

They put her in twilight state and straighten the bones some. Surgery sometime tomorrow.

WOW Dave!

Brother I hate to hear that. Seems like when it rains it pours.

They'll tell us there is a 'reason'.... but times like this it sure makes one wonder. We're praying for you, and your family brother.

As Job taught us:
"The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord."

Sorry to hear Dave, hope for a speedy recovery for you and your wife buddy!

Dear Dave,

I'm really sorry for what happened, we'll be praying for your (you and Ms. Wife) recovery and looking forward to hear the good news.

Keep Strong,

Kind Regards, from Brazil.

Thank you all so much for the prayers and well wishes, her surgery went well. No tendon damage so that's a plus. My pain is getting back under control. Now all I can do is think about the comical side of the situation.
