I was surprised but very happy when Fed Ex showed up yesterday with my G9 I purchased through GG's buy back program. Surprised, because when speaking with the rep on the phone I understood they would ship it after receiving my GG6 which is fair enough. I sent it back on Friday so it has not arrived yet, pretty impressive service. Also as part of the buy back GG sent 1-orange pad and a bottle of their GG Correcting Cream - awesome. As I am recovering from a bicep ligament injury it may be another week or two before I can use it, but picking it up and handling it, the minus .5 lb of weight was apparent and should help this ole body get through work on our 5th wheel, DRW truck and my wife's car. Can't wait to use it to accomplish all this.

Wow!

Now that is cool, Bruce.

Griot's is such a great company. Thanks for the info, my friend. :)

How does the buy back program work? I wouldn't mind trading in my GG6. What did you get for yours?

From what I understand you have call them. They are giving you basically $50 off the GG9 from the posts I have been seeing on social media.

That’s pretty awesome they sent the correcting cream and a pad! Nice little surprise.

In the YouTube live video, they make it sound like a Gazelle situation (company that buys phones/tablets/etc) where the money off the G9 you get is based off which generation machine you have and it’s condition; nice to hear it’s pretty consistently just been $50 off.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the G9! Got mine during the week, but haven’t had a chance to use it beyond the test trunklid I did.

You need to call them and they arrange it by sending a FedEx return label via E-mail to send the GG6 back. They then charge you a $100.00 so a savings of $49.00 but as I mentioned they also included an orange pad and Boss Correcting Cream.

Yes will do but as mentioned earlier I am recovering from an injury so it may be a couple weeks. I too will be initerested to read your thoughts.

Pretty good deal, might have to look into this. I've had my GG6 since the spring of 2011 with ZERO issues

I just received my G9. Did my black Expedition with it. Smooth machine.

if it was me with a GG6, and for the money in trade, I'd likely pass the 6" off to a friend.
That such a giving gift might very well come back in a very nice way.
A win-win situation.

As for me , I am back having just used my new GG9 with my experience using it, having done so yesterday in beginning to wax my fifth wheel. First, in general terms I can say WOW what a difference from my previous GG6. First, my experience with my GG6 was a good one and it served me well. In using the GG9 I found it to be more ergonomically easier to use and made it easier and natural for me to use, even a real joy. The power of this machine is superb and I suspect will be very effective for heavier correcting tasks. I am in the process of a two step process on my 5th wheel, yesterday I applied McGuiars Flagship Marine Cleaner wax followed by applying McGuiars Flagship Marine Wax. With the first step, I only had minor correcting and because of the power of this machine I found speed setting #4 all that was needed, where as my prior application with the GG6 I had to use #5 to achieve the same results. As far as vibration goes, a machine of this additional power is going to have some vibration, but I was amazed that it seemed to vibrate less. As far as noise level goes, not having done a decibel test between the two machines, I cannot say which is louder, but the GG9 did not appear to be any noisier than the GG6. Finally the .5 pound decrease in weight was evident and appreciated by me.

I have also received my g9. I'm keeping my gg6 because it's worth more 50.00 to me

Hermes1 - Glad to hear you’re digging it!

When you mentioned you were recovering from an injury, I was thinking you’d appreciate how easy it is to handle.
I don’t remember my GG6 ever being hard to manage, but the G9 makes you notice how easy it is to use however you want to hold it.

Yes very much so. While my injury is better but still not 100%, I was a bit reluctant to go ahead and start the project, but forced myself as I am running out of a suitable weather window. I was amazed how kind this machine was on this ole body.

Can you guys tell me what are your favorite or best combination of Backing Plates and Pads?

Thanks in advance...

So I called today about the buyback. Total charge was $187 ($87 of which will be refunded once they receive my GG6 back). I only paid $80 for my GG6, so this brought a new GG9 down to $93 spent lol. I went ahead and tacked on a 5" vented backing plate for another $20. Looking forward to getting it. I read a review of a guy being on his 5th power cord. Anyone else having problems with them?

Has anyone tried using a 3" plate and pad? I'd like to take advantage of the upgrade program but my g6 is my only machine so it gets used for 5" and 3" and griot's does not recommend the 3".
I only use my g6 a few times of year so it's probably not even worth upgrading but I have the itch for the latest! The only way I would upgrade though is through their program...I wouldn't keep the g6 to be strictly 3" and then also buy the g9.

Wow, so over night the G9 went up $37, playing with numbers. I guess 50 bucks cheapened the G6. Now 87 bucks sounds better. Either way it's costing you a hundred bucks.
