wow captiva got owned. i think the tsunami was the biggest disaster... i know it killed the most people.money aint a thing when a quarter million people die...

hmm well i remember during the noname storm in 92(maybe 93) my area ot flooded bad and we were canoeing down my road.also we went surfing in one of the canes last year...i couldnt even make it to the beach i was getting sandblasted it hurt so bad and the waves were going down the bach instead of into it so i stayed back...then my friends board got loose and flew about 75 feet up and smashed tp pieces on the side of a hotel.we decided to go home after that...

Yeah the Tsunami was definitely the worst disaster. I saw a satellite picture once, before and after the Tsunami, it was unbelievable!! The say that water is the deadliest force on earth.

You said you went surfing in one of the "canes" did you mean canals? I usually can figure out the typos but this one has me a little lost. Unless you meant to say canes in which case you'll have to explain that one to me. :o

ah, just found it. Look at this! This is awesome, but in the terrible/horrific sense of the word.

Surfing in the "canes" as in Hurricane. Mucho funno :D

Okay got it! ;) Muy peligroso tambien! I think it was Frances, when the police were out arresting the surfers here on my beach. They usually don't do that but I think they just got sick of telling them to get out of the water.

My sisters boyfriend called when he saw that one guy on the news (down here) that jumped off the Pier. He called and said "where's your brother??":D . That dude was hilarious though, he came out for an interview and cops went to get him so he ran back into the water "it's my right to surf" LOL.

I tried going out with Wilma but that was way to dangerous. Even before it hit Naples, the current was insane. Nobody could get more then 20-30 feet out, current was too strong nevermind trying to get through the waves.

With an outfit like that and a walker, you will have to move to Fla. Thats mandatory dress if you are over 70.

Well, I'll be the old crab with a Porter-Cable bungee corded to the walker's handle and a couple of bottles of Quick Detailer around my waist (man, I'm even laughing at myself picturing that).

hmm.. it may have been wilma.... i know it wasnt charlie cause we went to cocoa for that and charlie chased us across the state haha. we were surfing in st pete / clearwater during the event i described before.

I had to work in Punta Gorda the day after Charlie went through and I couldn't believe the devastation there. I was "blown" away, no pun intended. I have the dvd that some stormchasers made that were in the eye of Charley in Punta Gorda when it blew the city into pieces. It's unbelievable when watching it! Watch some of these videos:

http://www.weathervine.com/hurricanes/charley/ (dvd I own) It was copied from a resident of Punta Gorda that was given a free copy by the storm chasers who made it! They made me a copy of it.

See what you guys miss by living out of Florida:-) We deserve to have 1 day shipping from AG!! lol;)

Go ahead and laugh! When disasters like that hit, being able to laugh about it is a blessing. It keeps you sane. :)
