Hey everyone!

My name is Alex and I just started my business Alex's Headlight Restoration. I'm currently a senior in college and need some extra rent money so I figured I'd turn a hobby into work (I'm a business student by the way). I'm specializing in headlight restos ($15 per lens) and trim restos.

My current process is masking with 3m green tape, wet sanding with 600 and then 1500 grit by hand, Meg's ultimate compound with a 6" drill mount foam pad, and then finishing with the same pad and Plast-x and finally wiping down with IPA.
I'll post pictures of my work so far as well but I'd love to meet people and learn more on here!

Hello!

What part of Colorado are you in?

Your starting at 600 then immediately 1500?

Sometimes I'll skip the 600 but it all depends on severity yeah! I prefer to use my drill and some compound to do most of the work anyways so it hasn't been a problem yet!

Also I edited the original post with some pictures, they're in chronological order from starting out so you can already see the progression in my results!

Nice chunk of cars, good work on it. My question is though, don't you put a sealant on them or anything else to protect?

Kinda confused,if you start at 320 grit for example you have to follow up the grit in order to 1500 then 2000 for a nice job.If your not doing that ,the phone will start ringing. If it's dealer cars then it's different they usually want everything for nothing.

Nice! I'm just a bit south of you in Loveland!
