Just venting - house burglarized

What is sad most of us work our behinds off for what we got and these fools who never worked for anything in there life come and take from us hard working folk.

Not to be too political or anything, but as a young father I am starting to wonder if the world is becoming too liberal. We spend so much money on social entitlement programs that our prisons are underfunded and bad guys are allowed to prowl the streets without much risk.

This post really has no useful purpose other than to get some frustration out.

Last Thursday, as I was driving from my home in Orlando up to Lexington, KY, I got a call from the Orlando police letting me know that my house had been broken into - door smashed in, garage door pryed open, basically a giant mess.

In broad daylight, a couple of guys helped themselves to an almost brand new 60" plasma TV, xbox, playstation, couple of watches and whatever else they could grab in a minute or two.

I'm not so much angry (ok, I'm angry) as I am saddened by where the world seems to be these days. I know this isn't an unusual occurrence, particularly in Orlando - and it could've been worse. Nobody was harmed (had I been home that would have probably gone differently) and it's just stuff. But it's MY stuff that I work hard for and it just pi##es me off that people think they deserve to take it.

Ok, I'm done - the good news is my wall of detailing products is still in tact. :pc7424:

I completely feel for you, man. When you work hard for your stuff, it hurts to see it walk off with some losers who can't put forth the effort to earn it themselves. But, as you said, nobody was hurt, and we all know a life can't be replaced, so that's good. It's also good your detailing items were not jacked.

But if I ever saw someone messing with my car or anything I own, I'd probably be dumb enough to hurt them pretty good.

Also, what Bob said about the burglars possibly knowing you is very probable. I'm 26 and I honestly have no friends except for my girlfriend and my co-workers. I've found that having the least amount of friends has been quite pleasant. It's not bad to have friends, of course, but friends can really complicate things and I'd rather not be involved in it. All the friends I had in high school and in my teens have all gone their own way, and I'm kinda glad, lol. All my friends turned into charity cases, it seemed, always asking for favors or money instead of just wanting to hang and be best buds. Everybody is different, though.

I am so sorry to hear this.

Hope you can back to normal as soon as possible.

Best wishes

Thanks again, everyone - what's scary is that this kind of stuff seems to be the new normal. :dunno:

I always kept my circle very small also. What you're saying is so true. Things get crazy when you have a lot of people around you. All that drama and stuff.

Quite unfortunate.. Get a dog!

A co-worker/friend of mine has a friend who was hanging out with the wrong kind of people, somehow got himself into prison for nearly 2 years because he got accused of trying to kidnap someone. Even the guy's friend just took a dump on him and blamed everything on him. He could have faced 30 years in prison over LIES, but he somehow worked out a deal for 17 or 18 months in a minimum security prison. This same guy also used to invite complete strangers to his house and then all his stuff got stolen while he was at work. People are creepy, man. Just recently my lady's girl friend hooked up with some loser fresh out of prison, has a rap sheet full of burglaries, theft, etc. and I told her to not let that guy in my apartment for whatever reason. The girl is no longer with that guy, but she often comes by to visit and I didn't want that creep coming into my place and start eyeballin' my sh!t.

The less people in my life, the better, I think. I'm a friendly person and I like to get to know people and build relationships, but I'd rather do that with people I work with.

A home a few miles from me was robbed in broad daylight. The usual stuff stolen, watches, jewelry etc. The amazing part was that they stole the families 10 year old chiuaha. Not really a dog but kind of close.

Im taking a forensics class, There might be DNA all over the house such as hair or fingerprints . You call the police?

Man, I'm sorry to hear that. I hope the rest of your days in Orlando are uneventful in this sort of way.

It's always sad to see this and even if insurance does cover you everything, it's not like you can just move on. This stuff blows.

I'm happy that you, nor your family, were hurt.

Well I can say is that they are lucky you were not home, us Floridians are proud gun owners.

Unfortunately this is what it's come to these days in order to protect yourself and loved ones....without the slightest hesitation....

Original Poster - It's nearly the worst violation one can experience....

I hate reading about stories of low life thieves breaking into hard working honest peoples homes. It's a sad sad world we live in these days when the justice systems revolving door puts these criminals back into society. I'll bet those guys have a record a mile long!

I own a rental house that was broken into a couple years back. One of the thieves had on a court ordered monitoring device during the break in. Luckily my renters were not at home at the time. The thing is the guy with the monitoring device at the time had 31 arrests with 24 of them being felonies! This is what finally convinced me to get my concealed carry permit, it's always on my hip or just a reach away!

Here is the Newscast of the guy(s)

sorry about the quality I had to video the tv screen

You call the police?

The police called me - I was traveling and they had to dig around in the house for contact information so they could notify me.

Funny thing is, I relocated to Florida to do some work for a nonprofit that does some really great things for the community as a whole, after many years as a CPA/Controller in the Casino business, which is kind of the reverse.

Had these guys knocked on the door and asked, I'd probably given them a couple of bucks if they'd have just brought the garbage can in from the curb or something.

Anyway, I don't mean to beat a dead horse - thanks to everyone for the kind words - life goes on and I still have my DA.

That was the complaint from a LEO I know, that it's the same guys they keep arresting who are back out there doing it again. Combination of the jails being too full and the courts being too backed up--we had a rash of car thefts around here and when they finally caught the guy, he had been arrested for auto theft 6 or 7 times but none of them had gone to trial yet, so he was out stealing some more in the meantime.

Bill,

The police typically will not fingerprint unless someone was injured in this situation, OR if Orlando police has different strategies. Chicago Police wont fingerprint unless someone was injured or the items stolen were of certain value.

Fingerprinting is costly and it also includes his insurance getting involved in paying for testing.

To the OP, that is one of the worst things to come home to, and there are thousands of victims, unfortunately that's life these days. Best of luck and the most important thing is that no one was hurt.

Karma will soon kick in :)

You don't want them to fingerprint either, it's impossible to clean
