Hi all!

My name is Dustin Wilson, just registered here but have lurked for about a year or so now!

Thought I would finally register as AG just started carrying Griot's Garage products and I just happen to be the Corporate Events Coordinator and Sales Supervisor for Griot's! I've been at Griot's for about 2 years now and in the detailng industry for about 8 owning my own small side business.

I look forward to talking to a bunch of you and showing off my 2006 Scion xA built for touge down hill racing. She was built to race but stays clean enough to eat off of!

What a great forum and looks like a great group of folks!

:welcome:

My mom has an 06 xa as well. It's grey. I'm suppose to be detailing it in a couple weeks when she comes here. Haven't tried the Griots stuff yet, but plan on it eventually.

Welcome to our forums Dustin, we are happy to have you join. We are really enjoying carrying the Griots line, turned out to be a great addition to our product line. We all are looking forward to your input on the forums.

Impala - I'm a bit of a Toyota junkie, I'vr had four Scions already, and restore older toyotas in my spare time!

looking forward to being part of this community!

:welcome: Have not had the pleasure of try Griots line. But I am sure I will before long.

Telling us about a car and not showing pics is like taking a kid to the candy store and not letting him have candy. Cant wait for the pics.

Hello also  Welcome

I joinned here a few weeks back. I have not yet figured out how to start my own thread yet but after reading yours, I tought I try.

After reading your thread, and seeing you are with Girots, I tought I'd ask a question or two, three, four.

I've got a black vet. My good buddy (Mustang fan) at work has let me use his Girots stuff. I did order some new pads so I did not use up his pads. They arrived on a Saterday after ordering them on Thursday. I was impressed.

After reading a bit I think I have the holograms in my paint. It's aggravating! Yet they really only show trough when the sun is bright and car is clean. I have used some of the products to see if I can rid myself of this problem. I've tried two areas so far.

Here is what I've tried. Clean (wash), dry, clay, clean, Girots #2 polish, then #3, then Best in show wax. I goofed the last time, used the fine (#3) twice, then #2, saw my mistake, did #2 again, then #3 twice, then wax. I have watched videos on the Girots site, as well as autogeek. I have not seen anything about holos. I just kind of learnned this term tonight, but it does best describe my problem. Do I need to use a wax remover? I would think the polish removes wax. How about alkohol somewhere in this process?

I used two different orange pads for the different polish levels, then red for wax. I remove the wax haze with smooth cotton towels. I use the 3" Girots orbital polisher also at 3-4 speed. I'm doing small areas now, but I will need to get the hood and the rest of the car soon. Is the 3" too small or is this not a concern.

So what causes these holos and how do I get rid of them? I have to wait for the right cool-no-sun day (or evening) to do the work, and then the next sunny day to see results.

Thanks for any help/guidence you can give me. If you can, please email me at: [email protected] and/or this forum. I'll be on the lookout.

Thanks

I have never used Griots product. But try doing another pass with a less aggressive pad. Could be your not working the product long enough too.

Kens - I've sent you an e-mail as I am not too sure the rules of the site and want to be a good steward. I'm happy to openly discuss car care but would rather we do it in the correct forum so others can add their opinions as well.

Looks like a little name change was in order, I'll be GriotsGarage from now on and look forward to answering any questions you might have!

:welcome: . Nice to have you here. Can't wait to try GG's (am I the first to use the acronym, lol?) Undercarrige Spray.
