Tell us about it.

Menzerna was approached to design an OEM approved line of polishes to be used on the new ceramiclear clearcoats coming to the market from Maybach and Mercedes around 2 years ago. It designed 085 to be used on the line while clearcoat was still a little soft for blemishes and errors needing to be repaired. It also designed a more abrasive polish 066 to be used on cars with some swirls and marring at a later date.

Knowing Menzerna's quality for polishes, like there abrasives being of the utmost quality and size, some people followed these polishes and asked several US vendors to carry. Two vendors initially had them and they were large sizes and expensive at between 50.00 - 60.00 per bottle. They also warned NOT to use on normal clearcoats. Probably to keep attorneys happy if anyone blazes thru their clearcoat with extended uses.

I scored my bottle of 085 (deciding to go to the lightest based upon warning) and was relucant to use it. Started to see some good responses and then saw the initial abrasive factor and final gloss factor ratings on Menzernas board. (2,5) So my thought was if it is slightly more abrasive then normal polishes (like 2.5 SSR) but finished better than a finishing polish (1.0 SSR) I needed to try it. It was amazing, because it literally broke down so fast and looks so delicious in one bottle. Unfortunately Menzerna felt the fewer cars with ceramiclear finishes currently, as well as the overlap of the products, that it was able to help those with just 066. So here we are ...

Killr, wow, I'm lost! So 085, starts really heavy then finsihes super fine, right? So its basically a REAL all in one polish to take out medium marks and jewl the finish?

Was your experience with this product limited to the rotary?

Actually I have used quite extensively with the PC. And yes, if there ever was an AIO polish, then P085 would take the cake for now.

if you get the chance to get some PO85rd, I do believe your favorite will change there scooter ;)

po85rd applied via a finishing pad leaves a finish that you don't even want to put an LSP on because it looks so perfect.
I've found two different types of P085RD, one is a an "intensive polish" (cut 3.5/5 and gloss 3/5) and one is a "finish polish." (cut 1.5/5 and gloss 5+/5) Which one are you referring to? I'm assuming it's the FP version due to the gloss factor.

I believe its closest to the Finishing Polish, but remember this is the Ceramiclear offering we are discussing. Menzerna also offers an Intensive Polish and Finishing Polish in the US versions too.

I got a bottle of the Blackfire polish this week, believed to be P066 in a smaller relabeled bottle.

You make me not want to try the sample you sent me.... cause if I really like it, I can't get more.

Well, this one was on a website in the UK, so would it be the same as the US version? The label was sorta orangish....

Here's the one I found....same? Pic may be a bit small, sorry:

PO85RD.jpg

Text:
is an ultra fine finishing polish designed to leave paint with the highest levels of gloss possible. Like the Menzerna Intensive Polish PO85RD3.01 this was developed by Menzerna for the new breed of Scratch Resistant Coatings which are being introduced by many of the major paint manufacturers. It contains super fine uniform micro polishing grains to safely and effectively remove very fine 3000 grit marks from paint such as holograming and marring from more abrasive compounds. As such this is in our opinion the finest finishing polish there is, it leaves paint with so much depth and a mirror like gloss it's sometimes hard to believe. For both professionals and enthusists that strive for perfection this is a must have product.
This polish is unique to the Menzerna professional range and is so special they have kept it for themselves.
Final Finsh PO85RD can be used by random orbial or rotary polishing machines and even by hand. For best results we reccommend using this in conjunction with a fine finishing pad such as the Sonus SFX-3 (blue) Finishing Pads.
  • Professional grade polish that will deliver stunning results.
  • Bodyshop safe formula contains no fillers, silicones, waxes or glazes.
  • Easy to apply and remove with less dust.
Cut: 1.5 (Max: 5.0)
Gloss: 5.0+ (Max:5.0)
Official menzerna Data Sheet
500ml Bottle

So, does the bold text area mean that it's the same product since it refers to the ceramicoat clear coats?

where can I find ratings of polishes such as the cut/gloss figures? Are there any other polishes that have the same #r's as the Menzerna PO85? Expecially the gloss--5+? Thanks!

Let me know how you like the Blackfire. I was browsing and came upon their Menzerna-Blackfire "alliance" and would like to try it, but since you have it let us know how you liked it.

Killr, what color was the liquid of the original PO85? Menzerna's data sheet shows that it's grey colored.
