KISS Detail - Extreme Makeover - Toyota Highlander

just did a toyota highlander hybrid. you are talking about 90 per cent of my clients. daily drivers left outside. i absolutely love 360 and order it by case now. did a 97 jeep and today a older honda civic coupe. silver, white, black it doesnt matter it just works. lay some collinite over it and your set for winter.my customers are just jazzed.

wow great job. The paint looked shot on the toyota. That neon was pretty bad as well. Both looked like they were going to turn out awesome.

Whats the purpose of the black marks on the backing plate?
Thanks Ryan

The passenger side is still dull, lifeless and rough looking...

That is outstanding! And in 4 hours time. Looks like a 10 hour job. I really must get to one of your classes.

LOL Suddenly a hood protector seems like a good investment:bash:. With the White being so clean the chips really stand out. However I think if he were to install a hood protector that it would cover up most of the chips.

:iagree: I just did a daily driver for a lady using Pinnacle XMT360 and the results where fantastic! Great one step product! I've always been a believer in KISS :xyxthumbs:.

"Whats the purpose of the black marks on the backing plate?"

Helps you identify if the pad stops spinning. Mike shows this tip in one of his how to videos. Good tip as the machine will still look and feel like its spinning when its not.

All things being equal, that is if you use the same pad on the same tool they seem to cut about the same...

Wipe-off is easy... shine is excellent.

:)

Interesting I never knew or even thought 360 would cut as well as either M66 or D151. D151 is my go-to for 1 steppers I like how it cuts and finishes but now you have me wanting to try xmt 360

came out great. how about repairing some of the stone chips?

I love seeing such a great save. I cant wait to get a buffer so I can polish mine and my wife's car.

Would you recommend using XMT on a new car with light swirls?

Sorry for the late reply, just now found it...

You could but if it were my "new" car I would use a dedicated process approach, that is use a dedicated polish that has the sole purpose of removing swirls and then I would apply a "finishing wax", or finishing sealant or coating, etc.

Now this I like to see. Some makeovers of "users" (as I like to call some of the knives in my pocket knife collection). I can't wait to see how that blue car (can't tell what it is) comes out.

Nice job on the Toyota too. I'm about to do the same thing on my 2004 4-Runner that sits outside all the time and is also a "user".

mike, really terrific/inspiring job here... i own a white '07 camry, and will be putting your tips to use to improve the esthetic appeal of the car.
as a white car, mine also has little rock chips that are eye-sores in the paint (and a couple of irritating bumps on the back bumper-cover from my unavoidable 24/7 street-parking situation)... are there any articles on AGO about touching up the paint or even removing small dents/bumps? cheers!

Thank you, I try to cover both spectrusm, production detailing, show car detailing and a little in-between.

There are some articles on touching up rock chips and scratches on this forum but I don't recall any on doing PDR, at least not that I can think of, that's a real art form.

Here's two very good how-to threads on doing touch-up work...

I'm perma-linking this thread..... Great post!

I am going to do the same.

I haven't been online for a while and this is the first post I looked at. I really feel motivated to break out the clay/cleaner wax.

The chips on the hood really make the beauty of the detail and discilpline of the owner POP!
