Mike own a 2016 corvette was wondering if klasse all in one and the souveran wax favorites kit will mark/harm any of the non painted surfaces on the car. ie the air intakes , chrome trims , plastic painted bumper. Was considering buying the favorites kit , but do not want to screw up the trims on my car. Thank u for any info you might be able to provide me with.

Hi and welcome to AutogeekOnline! :welcome:

Klasse All-in-One is a cleaner/wax or if you want to drill down and get real specific it's a cleaner/sealant. Generally speaking, cleaner/waxes or cleaner/sealants will tend to stain plastic trim as the cleaners will turn white when they dry. The worst trim in the world to stain is the PEBBLE TEXTURED BLACK PLASTIC TRIM and that's because this type of trim has a pebble texture and things like cleaners, compounds, polishes and some waxes will IMPACT into the texture and for the most part be impossible to remove 100%.

That said, I've never noticed the Klasse AIO to be horrible at staining like some products but at the same time a good practice if your car has plastic, rubber or vinyl trim is to do one of two things,

1: SLOW DOWN - Slow down and be careful when applying ANY paint cleaner, compound, polish or cleaner/wax so you don't cream over the trim with the product.

2: Tape Off - If you don't trust yourself to be careful around trim then simply tape it off with some painter's tape.

As for Souveran Paste Wax, one of the benefits to this product is that it doesn't stain trim. It's still not a good practice to apply any wax over trim but if you accidentally get any of the Souveran Wax onto trim just wipe it off immediately and move forward.

I used the klasse all in one on a charger I had it was pretty new.I waxed the non textured plastic like the door pillar trim.Stuff is great, but the benefits on trim isn't worth doing they seemed to revert back to it original state of appearance in a week. But on the paint was great.Im now using hi temp wax and sealant nice deep rich color depth and super easy to remove. Both are great products and I like to cherry pick products to try them out periodically .

I would keep it off all unpainted surfaces.

Strongly agree. On a couple occasions I've either intentionally or accidentally hit trim with Klasse AIO and it wasn't pretty. It turned the surface a chalky white and was EXTREMELY hard to remove...even on smooth plastic. Not only is it really hard to remove like Mike said, but since Klasse AIO is a chemical cleaner wax vs an abrasive one, I believe the chemicals in the product did something to the plastic as well.

yeah, KAIO can be a beyotch that way, and with removal in general. I'm haven't used it in 10 years because of that. Altho the results always looked good.

You should have no problem with Souveran. Goes on and off easier than anything I've used. Never had a problem with trim.

GUYS , MIKE thank you for all the answers and replies.

Nice picture Ron showing what trim should be taped-off.

Mike, I understand that you do not endorse any off label uses for products but poli-seal is great on smooth plastic and coated rubber after cleaning to help bring back an even texture and remove oxidation from neglected smooth trim that APC possibly couldn't remove completely. Also, I've used Optimum Car Wax for alomost the past decade to dress and protect all types of plastic, rubber, and vinyl trim. You give great information especially to newcomers who get on the forum and wind up completely overwhelmed from reading all sorts of opinions but it is a fact that Autogeek sells an entire product line (possibly two or three product lines) that's entirely made up of trim safe products.

Poli-seal and Optimum Car Wax are the only two products i've used on my 2004 dodge dakota's trim and I bought the truck used in 2006. That is 10 years of only wax on black plastic trim and rubber. Almost all of it is textured trim and OCW maintains and enhances the finish better than anything. I'm sure there are better products but I've never had to use them because after nearly 10 years of waxing it, it looks brand new. Maybe I have actually been damaging my trim and all of my customers trim all along but it certainly looks great and I don't have to worry about buying a dedicated product or trying to carefully apply a dressing so i'm not spending more time wiping it off the windows/paint.

Lastly, I am also confused as to how a wax like souveran paste wax or DP Max Wax could cause problems when they don't contain cleaners and they don't chalk up like older traditional waxes. I have used them both to restore the glossy look to all sorts of plastics (including textured) that are too far gone for optimum car wax. I'd love to get your professional opinion because I have a ton of respect for you I just don't see how it could be 2016 and we are still actually telling detailers to tape off their trim. Thanks!

It could help if you dress the trim before using Klasse AIO. Dressing first will make accidentals clean-up easier.
