What are you guys using to protect your knees from the concrete garage floor while you polish for hours at a time?

skin....jk....i just use a old pillow...you can get a nice pad somewhere tho

to funny scottgt. I was thinking of maybe an auto creeper then i can lay down while doing front and rear bumpers.

Most of the time, I'm fortunate to have the Snap-On lift at the shop. But, for interior work and door sills, I'm on the floor on my knees.

There's a mechanic's seat which I could use, but I don't care for it.

So, in my search for knee comfort I found that Levi's have a "Signature" pair of work jeans with double material sewn in to the knee area and a side pocket that holds a plastic bottle. I found them at Wal-Mart near the Dickie's work shirts and CarHart work stuff. Pretty good pair of pants for $23 and they add some comfort for working on your knees.

Knee pads :D I go to HD and get the cheap ones, about ten dollars. I have gone through a few pair. I find them to work the best, since it gives me the most movability while working.

Thanks everyone for your replies. That why I like this site a little brainstorming goes a long way.

After I finish doing the top half of my car, I take 4 car jacks and jack my car a foot off the ground and sit in an old rolling office chair.

Go to Big Lots and buy one of the rolling creepers or a stool. Of course with
the stool you have to be able to raise up the vehicle.

I've been looking around for something to use on those low areas and I spoted the "AutoGeek Detail Seat". I'll be putting an order in for one of those in the near future.

I was fortunate enough to use an alignment rack tonight

+1. Grabbed $10 Knee pads and they make Detailing so much easier. You'd be amazed at how much more wear on your back can tire you out. I do need to find some Knee pads that conform for my knees if I go completely flat.
