Lady in Red - 1986 Porsche - 4-Step Process

That's a good guess but alas... I did not use a rotary bufer.

I'm really curious now. I read through all of the posts to make sure that you didn't answer my looming questions only to find out that you were purposely omitting the details that I'm seeking. I'm assuming now, and this is purely assumption, that you used some type of MF pad on a DA. (forced rotation?) I originally had the intent of asking if you used a rotary buffer to compound, and a DA to polish after reading other postings of yours. It's my experience that porsche has a medium / soft paint. I'm just wondering if your method is one that is also proven on a harder clear. I haven't used any type of MF/DA system but after seeing multiple positive results I'm ready to put my wheel down and try something else.

And I rarely do that, in fact I normally do just the opposite. Not only include all the details but add links to the "details" to the AG store.

Mine too but this car has been repainted and there's no info about the paint system used. I would say that it's in the medium/soft range and definitely not the medium/hard range.

I did not use microfiber pads on this project. I think I listed that I used a foam polishing pad.

:)

Forced rotation DA? Mystery foam pads? This will bug me for days.

RUPES.

Speechless. Great write up! Very educational.

Thanks Scott...

I still have pictures from the below procedures done to this car to post... hopefully when I get back from Evansville and before leaving for SEMA...

  1. Aluminum Wheel Polishing.
  2. Tire clear coating.
  3. Convertible top cleaning and protecting.
  4. Clear flexible plastic window cleaning and protecting.
  5. Glass Polishing.
  6. Leather cleaning, conditioning and protecting.
  7. Black Plastic Trim Protection.

Just for everyone that will find this thread via Google or while on this forum into the futre...

The Black Label line of premium products has been made public and it was the Black Label Diamond Paint Coating that I used on this car.

You still haven't posted what polisher you used ;)

That's due to a confidentiality agreement. I can share some picture of the tool in use on the car tomorrow sometime after Paul Dalton makes the announcement.

I'll also be using these tools on this tomorrow along with the Black Label Diamond Paint Coating after we finish setting up the AG booth.

I've been told the paint on this car doesn't look like you see in the picture above, it's dull and hazy. I have my camera with me and as is my norm, I'll take good before pictures plus a walk-around video.

Tomorrow is almost here. Plus anyone that attends my next Detailing Boot Camp Classes will get to use them along with all the other cool tools, pads and products.

:)

As a person waiting to buy a polisher, I'm very excited to see what's new! Might still go with my previous choice, but I would hate for it to just be amazing and jump the gun. Thanks for giving the few of us looking to move on a new polisher this week the heads up something good is coming!

...

Well, if it is Paul Dalton, then it will be a new RUPES (I was hoping for a new FLEX...).

In this post:

under the title Ounce of prevention, the first picture shows a machine, on the work bench, with a white "head" and a RUPES bag...

Good eye. Interested in what it is. We should be hearing later today?
