I just got a new Lake Country wash sponge in and have used it a few times now. I gotta admit, this thing is a huge upgrade to my home depot grout sponges. I never felt comfortable using the other sponges on paint, especially with ONR due to the lack of nap, and gliding ability. I put my grout sponges on wheel and arch duty a long time ago.

This sponge on the other hand has so far proven to be very worthy of paintwork. It's much softer than the others, as soon as it is damped you will see what I mean. It's designed with softness and nap in mind, cross cut horizontally and vertically to create deep crevices to suck in large particles.

I don't know what foam they used, but it is very nice feeling, and even with significant pressure applied, it reverts to it's normal size and shape almost immediately. I didn't see them available at the geek yet, what's the deal Jason and Meghan? These things will replace home depot sponges in garages across the country, please get them in stock!

it's a great GS, the only thing i don't like about it is it's too thick (3")... i still like and use the Lowes GS (easier to manuever under door handles, tight spots, etc) and time will tell if the LC GS little square perforations will tear and rip off after repeated use...

Thanks for the write up Brian, I was wondering about this, now I will make the purchase.

I'm sure you'll like yours as much as i do AR. Pertaining to the durability of the foam, that remains to be seen, but I wasn't very gentle with it on purpose, have washed an suv, and a car with it, and right now it's the same shape it was on arrival, and just as clean too.

Brian, after looking at it, how is the durability? I like the design of it, just curious how it will hold up, looks like from the photos that those blocks could get torn or ripped out.......any problems along that line?

Not yet, it seems durable. It's a lot stronger than it looks too, I had to use some pressure to get it to collapse for the photo. Like any wash medium, you should steer clear of sharp tight edges, but washing most body contours shouldn't be an issue.

Looks good. May have to try to find one after the first. My detailing funds have been depleated with all the sales. Keep us posted on it durability

Same here... but im cutting down on Xmas shopping for family so i can get more goodies from AG :o

Yeah I would like to see Autogeek carry these as well. The only site that carries them, they custom ordered the sponges from Lake Country so I don't know how easy it would be for Autogeek to carry them.

The site that is selling them actually has them available as their daily special today ($4.49 each down from $5.99 each). I ordered two of them for some ONR washing. :D

This looks to be the same design as on the ulti-mitt (avail on autogeek). I liked the ulti-mit, but after much use mine tore along the seam holding the two halves together. If autogeek would have had this when I got my last order I would have got it, but decided to give the white schmitt a try.

Oh and I dont think that I would use this for ONR, it doesnt have pores like a HD GS for the dirt to go into. I use the Megs or Cobra white chenille mitt from AG for ONR washing

It has pores, and nap, it's the only sponge I would use with ONR, not that I ordinarily do use a sponge.

I have an Ultimitt that I use, and just received the two AG Schmitts
I ordered, but I would have been all over this. Hopefully I will be
able to make them an AG future purchase.

I have looked at autogeek store and can't find this item. Can someone point me in the right direction.

With ONR?

The answer would be sometimes, after polishing I have used microfiber and ONR, I don't see much difference in doing so than QDing, only the cleaning abilities vary.

No, I mean for regular washing.

That particular sponge has now been through 8 washes, and pretty extensively used per session. It is not as firm as it was to start, but still in suitable condition for washing. Not one piece of foam has ripped or separated off mine yet.
