So i am in the market for a new laptop. Mine broke. i had a dell and it was a peice. It feell apart to the point of not being worth sending it in or spending the time to fix it. It is not at the point where some of the keyboard dosent work.

So i have decided im getting a new one.
the only pronlem is what kind. i dont want a dell again, was to disapointed.

So i dont want to say money is no issue, but i will spend what i need, if it coasts mea lot, well so be it. I need it for school.

so im looking for somthing with power, i want it to run as my normal computer as well as a school one, so it needs to run programs like simply acounint... which dosent take much (i need it for a course)

Also i would like it to be on the smaller size. I dont want it to be so small i cant read anything *which ih have seen) but i dont want anything big anf bulky.

Any brand sugetions would be much appricated.

Thanks in advance

mike

My recommendations would be:
- Dell D620 latitude notebook (sorry, I know you said no dell, but they're small, powerful, and cheap, since the D630s are out)
- Apple MacBook (small, fast, able to run both Windows and OSX. I'd run the Windows side for your schoolwork, then OSX to surf the web, check email, less headaches)

Whatever you decide, don't go cheap, you'll regret it. The Intel Celeron and AMD Sempron are the lowest and cheapest chips out there and will give you the slowest response time. Make sure RAM is sufficient, 1GB or more. Big hard drive will increase speed, but also give you ample room to store pics of your car details and share them with us.:D

Good Luck!

I am in the IT field and have first hand experience with Dells, HPs and Sonys.

I'd suggest going with an HP. Best ownership experience I've had among all Laptops I've ever had.

I'm on my 3rd Toshiba laptop. I have never had a problem with any of them. They usually give you the most bag for the buck to. My wife has a dell laptop and it's a piece of crap.

What Dell did you have that crapped out on you? If you go Dell, go with our Latitude line of machines. They are business-class and business-proof with business warranties. The most robust machines we sell!

I have a Dell. It's been outstanding.

Find yourself an ASUS brand. We won't sell any other brand. Except an occasional Acer. Our Compal Books are nice as well.

Ditto on the MacBook. You get the best of both worlds and their specs were just updated yesterday!

Which ever brand you choose, I would strongly suggest you install a spell checker.;)
