Last Project Car for 2011 - 1951 Studebaker - Extreme Makeover!

This will be the last project car we work on this year and it might be the last Autogeek's Car of the Week" project for a while as January is incredibly busy with Autogeek's TV shooting, Mobil Tech Expo and my Detailing Bootcamp class.

So if you want to have some fun, clear your schedule and be here this Thursday starting at 5:00pm.

Here's Jim's 1951 Studebaker... the paint is single stage black and 100% completely thrashed...

Here's a side shot of the rear fender with no flash... paint doesn't look to bad from this perspective...

Here's the same shot with the flash on... ouch... kind of hurts your eyes to look at swirls on such a cool classic car...

Here's the original Flathead 6 engine...

I'm sure I've worked on cars in worse condition but to be honest I can't remember when... that's how bad the paint is on this car...

The opportunity to work on cool cars with single stage paint is becoming more and more rare, it's truly a treat. If you're in the Stuart area, this will be a great project to be a part of...

We start at 5:00pm sharp! If you want to join in the fun then reply to this thread...

Here's where the action takes place...

Autogeek's Garage
7744 SW Jack James Drive

Stuart, FL 34997
Mapquest Driving Directions

The door to the right of the garage door is the entrance to our TV Studio where we conduct these events.

Very cool example of: Cars of Yesteryear! They don't make 'em with these kind of stylish lines very often, anymore.

What a great Christmas gift this make-over will offer for either the current owner; or, by the looks of the For Sale sign, the one that buys this Classic.

Can't wait to see the finished results!

:)

Mike, don't think I'll be able to make ths one. Heading to NC early in the morning to spend time w/family.

That is if I get enough people to sign-up. There's no way I can do this project by myself in a short amount of time, it's just to hacked-up...

Sent an e-mail to the "A-Team", (Autogeek Team), that's the regulars that join in the fun.

Since it's very close to Christmas it's very possible that everyone is busy or travelling... if so then we'll cancel till next year.

Hi Adam,

Yes, we're still on for tomorrow night.

Sharif sent me an e-mail saying he'll be here plus some of the guys from Gweed's Gangsters will be here as they want to learn how to machine polish their streetrods.

If we're not up to full battalion strength we're going to use a one-step cleaner/wax. The paint on this Studebaker is single stage black enamel or lacquer and from experience, this is the softest paint there is to polish so a good cleaner/wax will do a spectacular job when applied by machine.

This going to be fun and a great way to end the first year of "Autogeek's Car of the Week". Plus... Alexis will be stopping by to inspect work so I expect everyone to be their best.

Man! I have got to move closer to Stuart. The last car of the year, and possibly one of the coolest. And the last brunette Swirl Girl of the year, and possibly one of the hottest! Maybe next year.:(

Maybe next year.:(

There probably won't be any time for project cars in January and the first two weeks of February as we're shooting our second season of our TV show and in January I'm teaching 4 classes at the Mobile Tech Expo so I'll be out of the office for 4 days for that including a Thursday night and then my Detailing Bootcamp classes at the end of January and then we roll into another week of shooting TV episodes...

So this really will be the last one for some time and as soon as we can we'll pick back up in 2012....

Maybe we can do a project car the Thursday before Detail Fest starts for anyone that wants to help out and can get here a day early...

:)

You can say that again! In fact, I will say it with you!

Whew...hello Alexis! :-D

LMAO!!! I know right?! She's pretty hot! Amy will always be my favorite though. *sigh* she so fine.

Just talked to Gary, he might stop by and check out our operation.

Gary's 1940 Chevy Coupe
Besides all the other customizations Gary also is running the rear fender skirts which you rarely ever see on these old Chevy coups and it gives the car a real cool look...
