Late Winter Protection

I was able to get a wash in on my car here in the Greater Philadelphia area. Unfortunately, due to light and time, I wasn't able to get a super detailed wash in to remove bug residue and iron deposits. Would I be doing more harm than good if I just go right ahead and apply Collinite 845 wax over the car to just get some additional protection on? I can let my car dry tonight and tomorrow, then tomorrow night, apply the wax. I'll be heading up to Lake Placid, NY in a few days.

Absolutely agree with Tom but if it were me I'd wax everything except over the bugs. Unless I'm reading wrong.

I agree with Tommy, that's fine. Just don't forget you'll want to do that full decon when you can (Spring?).

You are not reading anything wrong. Why not over the bug residue? My initial concern was that waxing over it would just encase it and make it more difficult to remove. Would my theory be correct?

That was my thoughts, but Pauls point about doing a full decontamination wash is spot on. Well he has way more experience than I do any way.

It wont be difficult to remove both wax and bug residue at a later date.

But, not certain, the acids from bug residue may (not sure) continue to etch paint over time.

Just take a min and wipe/remove at least the residue and go ahead wax. Decontaminate later when you have the time.
