finally used up the last of a large quantity of PB QD+.
What's the latest decent QD spray? Or is PB QD+ still a good option.
And what do you recommend for a good MF cloth for the QD spray?

Optimum No Rinse 1/2oz to a gallon has been working great for me.

I was using their recommended 2oz to a gallon, but the 1/2oz cleans, and lubricates well enough, and dries up even better.

QD+ has wax?

I just started using Uber Rinseless. Never heard a bad thing said about it here. Doesn't spot up glass when I overspray the way wax does.

If you want something inexpensive, I have to agree with dlc95, ONR is hard to beat. You could also use Optimum no rinse and wax as the same dilution is you want a QD with wax in it.

Latelly I have been using Meguiars D155, must say I like it a lot! Don't know if I will like it enough to buy it again, since ONR is really inexpensive, but in terms of result, so far I have nothing bad to say about it.

ONR MSRP: $39.99/gal
"Add 8 ounces of No Rinse Wash & Shine to a gallon of water to make an excellent quick detailer."
QD batch: $2.50/gal

Uber Rinseless MSRP: $79.99/gal
"Add 3 ounces of Uber Rinseless Wash to a gallon of filtered or tap water to create a gloss-intensive detail spray."
QD batch: $1.87/gal

D155 MSRP: $22.99/gal
QD batch: $22.99/gal

Define the characteristics you are looking for that makes a quick detailer “decent.”

Well, like i said, I’ve been using PB QD+ and been quite happy with the results. Something that takes daily residue off, goes on/off relatively easy, leaves a good shine (with a good proper base)
I may just actually stick with PB...

Thanks for doing the math for us ;)

Seems like Uber is even cheaper. Actually some other products like Ultima might even be better, would be a good idea to do the math on all of them. But the bottom line is that rinseless and waterless products make much cheaper QDs than pre-diluted ones.

On the other hand I do not know if they would give as good a gloss after application. I have been using ONR as a QD for the last 5 years. After using D155 on the last few jobs here are my feelings about it:

- It wipes off completelly while ONR would not. ONR always leaves a little bit of water behind, this is not much of an issue in terms of water spotting because the film it leaves behind can flash off after a few minutes but I feel D155 does a much better job at this.

- D155 really enhances the look of the car, it makes it glow. Just like a spray wax or spray sealant would. ONR doesn't do this. I have heard that Best of Show does this even more but I have no personnal experience with it so I can't really compare. I have mesured the Gloss before and after D155 but it remains the same, so I cannot put a number on it. But believe me, it makes a big diffenrence on the look.

So what is best? I am on the fence right now. ONR type QD are much cheaper to use, but I don't use a lot of product to do a whole a vehicle: 4 sprays in a microfiber towel to start with and 2 sprays per pannel. I can do a lot of cars with a gallon, probably in the hundreds... so I am not sure saving 20$ out of all these cars is worth it to me. It comes to pennies per car, for a very desirable effect (look enhancement). I guess it depends on what is best in your world. As a detailer just starting out and in the process of putting together an arsenal of product, I would say use ONR. If you are someone just wanting to maintain his own vehicle, or an established detailer, I would probably suggest you find the best QD you can so the car can look the best it can.

Thanks all! I think I might try the Griots detailer.

If you are going to use it very often I would look at McKees 37 N-914 rinseless wash. And dilute it to your needs. I think if you use a QD with alot of protection in it you are going to handle smearing and other things down the road. With something that don't leave anything behind you can ad your QD with protection or and glossenhancers weekly or every two weeks.

If you like Poorboy's products their Poorboy's Spray and Wipe Waterless Wash. Is like McKees 37 N-914 in that it don't leave anything behind. And the value after testing the 16oz bottle first you can buy by the gallon.

Poorboy's Spray & Wipe Waterless Wash: Just spray and wipe away dirt and grime with this quick cleaner! qed, poorboys waterless wipe, poorboys quick

Ultima is $2.73/gal using their formula (1 gallon yields 44 gallons).

The bottom line is that these concentrated waterless/rinseless wash products that wipe relatively clean are dirt cheap (these are gallon prices) and when you can fill a 32 oz spray bottle for under $1.00 it really is almost free, not quite but almost free.

This thread is definitely making me want to pull the trigger on some Wolfgang uber rinseless wash.

Ive used ONR for such a long time I didn’t realize what it wasn’t doing for me until I traded some stuff for UWW+ awhile back.

In comparison, ONR feels like it has barely any lubrication. My drying towels feel like they drag across the paint when I’m using ONR, but with UWW+ it’s crazy slick.

I just have about 25oz of ONR left to use up.. and a bottle of UWW+ (I may never get to but WGU, now that I think about it...)

Uber is a good product but so is ONR. They both do what they are supposed to do and they both do it very well. The only reason I tried Uber was out of boredom and wanting to try something new. It works very well. I'll probably use it now as my go-to rinseless.

Be sure to use distilled or DI water. This can make a huge difference in the "pull" you feel.

Yeah don’t get me wrong, I do like ONR. Even when mixed up at QD strength with DI water it still drags more than something like UWW+ though, which is my main reason for wanting to try something else.

When I’m using ONR, I feel obligated to use a drying aid to make the drying process slicker, easier, and more enjoyable.

When I’ve used UWW+ as a rinseless, I didn’t feel that need at all, which is really attractive to me.
