I'm a little confused on which pads to use for the Wolfgang paintwork polish enhancer and glaze. I watched the video on using the PC 7424 XP to remove swirls. In the video Mike used a white pad for the finishing glaze. The Wolfgang Duo and PC Kit includes a gray finishing pad to use for the glaze. Is it just personal preference on which one to use? This will be my first time using any kind of machine to polish a car, so I have no experience on what the real differences of these pads are.

Also, if I'm using the PC on a swirl-free car and I just use the polish enhancer, should I stick with the gray pad or go with the white pad. My first thought is that I want the gray pad because it has no cut, and I'm not trying to abrade the paint. All I need to do is clean the paint so that the sealant can bond, correct? I'm guessing I'm missing something though, since the how-to on this product recommends a white pad.

Again, I'm probably over-thinking this and should just try both to see which one I prefer. I figure the same is true for the blue and red pads. They seem very close in their purpose, but I haven't tried either. Any thoughts?

Their is a big difference between those two Wolfgang products you have mentioned. The "glaze" in the duo pack is not really a glaze. It is pretty much exactly the same as Menzerna PO106FA, an abrasive polish. The Paintwork polish enhancer is a pre-wax cleaner, it is an oil emultion with no abrasives.

Now, what pads you use with either depends on what you want to achieve. I use a white pad with PO106FA for taking out minor swirls, in a '1 step' polish. I'll use the gray pad to get the best possible gloss with the PO106FA (or PO85RD), if I follow PO203S in a '2 step' polish.

I don't mind using a white pad with my pre-wax cleaners. I find it helps the product take off the previous sealant / wax, and helps the cleaning of the paint. You wont be doing any correction with the white pad, so don't worry about that.

Try both white and gray pads out, and see what works for you! There is not too much of a difference though. I just find that tiny bit of a cut makes the product work quicker / more efficiently.

When glazing with say poor boys black hole (what I call a real glaze), I use the softer pads, either gray or blue.

There is not much between the blue, red, and gray pads. All pretty much do the exact same job. The foam even feels the same.

Ok that makes perfect sense! Thanks a lot! I'll experiment a bit, but this gets me on the right track. I'm looking forward to getting the PC soon and trying out...on the wife's car first of course. :)
