Learn How To Machine Polish a 1970 Cuda with a 440 Big Block!

i know the results are gunna be over the top i can only dream to one day be there too :(

If I posted my "special" car projects further in advance would that help anyone to make travel arrangements to be here?

Oh, Mike....sooooooo jealous of that incoming class being around that orange monster!!

The opportunity to see one of these cars is rare, the opportunity to be able to take a MACHINE to one of these cars is even more rare. What makes projects like this even more fun is opening the doors and inviting our forum members to be part of car detailing history.

post so many before and after pics that Megan gets mad at you.

I don't want that...

Good luck.

Thank you but I don't believe in luck... I believe in...

Preparedness meets oportunity...

Mike,

Is it true that Tommy is going to be providing pizza and wings for the entire crew?!?! :hungry:

Ray, Tommy and Dan, I've added you to the list.

We need to knock this one out in the appropriate amount of time, I want to watch the Ryan/Biden Debate which comes on at 9:00pm Eastern Time. :D

Mike I will get there early to the car all prepped up and all the polishers and tools ready to go.

Nice Mike! I like that. :dblthumb2:

Would love to be there. If only the bike was up for the trip. Announcing these sooner would help, but being half a days drive away, I would need a plane ticket with the earlier announcment.LOL
Hope you guys have. Can't wait to see the before close up shots.:hungry:

Me too, I use that saying all the time...

I'm planning on taking some good high resolution before shots of the swirls and also a video outside with the sun doing what it does best for swirled-out paint.

Let's cross our fingers it's sunny...

Hook, nook or crook I'm going to get the shots. I love taking the wind out of the sails of the people that don't think there are swirls in the paint.

This Thursday night's project is going to be a blast plus I'm going to make some short videos on a couple of topics using this car as my demo car.

Foxnews posted a short article about a 1971 Cuda headed to auction

Rare 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda heads to auction | Fox News

That is so cool...

I've invested my entire career buffing out cars and showing others how to buff out cars and while new cars are really refined there's nothing like buffing out a true muscle car. Muscle cars are like real-estate, they are valuable because they don't make them any more...

Max built this studio to be used and Thursday night we're going to use it. Everyone that comes down to the Autogeek Show Car Garage Studio this Thursday night is going to get a chance to wheel a classic big block muscle car and when we're done and the paint on this beauty shines like a diamond they can stand back and say,

I was part of the A-Team that fixed the paint on this car and it looks good....

This Thursday I'm going to make a number of videos using this car because the swirls are pretty horrendous, but as soon as the videos are finished we're going to take rotary buffers to this car for the major correction step. After that we'll finish it out with DA Polishers to ensure a swirl free finish.

Tommy likes Pinnacle polishes and waxes so this is the product line we're going to use for the restoration.

I'll take plenty of pictures showing the before condition, the process we used, including pictures of everyone working on the car and the the after shots.

So stay tuned because on Friday you're going to see a diamond in the rough turned into a glistening gemstone...

Burn outs in the parking lot? Oh wait this car is going to be to shinny to even drive!!! Weather report looks good.:dblthumb2: Onions, mushrooms, maybe olives and pepperoni?:hungry::grouphug:

Hey Tim,

If you can, try to bring your 1957 Chevy, I'd like to move it into the shop and get some good high resolution pictures of it ahead of time and then we'll plan on doing your show car makeover after SEMA

:xyxthumbs:

I was going to bring it anyway so I could see paint thickness and show you some sanding marks.I am reading your thread now titled "Removing orange peel and sanding marks". Looking forward to working on that beast tomorrow night. Thanks, TIM.

Yeah... I already know what you're thinking...

But Mike, the finish looks GREAT!

Just wait till I document the true and accurate condition...

Reasons I'm excited to polish this beast:

1. It's a sweet car.
2. It's always a lot of fun when a bunch of car guys are in the same garage.
3. For the 1% chance someone asks me to move the car :)
4. I plan on having my picture taken behind the drivers seat to post on my Facebook.

:buffing:Im the MAN:buffing:

What a sweet looking Cuda :xyxthumbs: That is a very rear car to see down this part of the world but saying that . The amount of classic cars being imported into the country is unreal.

The Cuda is here, there are rotary buffer holograms throughout the entire finish and Tommy and I just did the Baggie Test and there's some type over contaminants bonded to the paint.

No time to get pictures up because we're shooting some videos before everyone else arrives.

This thing is sweeeet.....

:xyxthumbs:

Is this project going to be broadcast live tonight?

Thanks,

Mike Mertz

Sorry but no, Yancy is working on some hot projects that require all his time and attention.

No fear, I have more cool cars coming up and after SEMA Yancy will be back...

Also, since this is your first post to our forum...

Welcome to Autogeek Online!
