I know it has come up before when cleaning tires for coating, that some people use Tarminator or some other solvent. Well, today I saw I missed a spot that was still brown, and I had already put away all my tire cleaning equipment etc. I happened to have some IPA (straight supermarket 70%) and a throw-away MF (Rip n' Rag) that I had been using for something else, so I said what the hell and tried it...and sure as sh...sugar, it took the brown off. In fact I'm not sure that won't be my new tire cleaning regimen, it beats 10 rounds of scrubbing until the suds are white.

Do you mean IPA as in India Pale Ale? If it works for cleaning tires, imagine what it does to your liver. LA Totally Awesome from the Dollar General works best for me.

Yeah, but I'm talking about something you can use that you don't have to rinse off, as I said, I had already put the hose and stuff away, I had been using OPC and the 303 tire cleaner they don't make anymore.

I have used Mothers Back to Black Tire cleaner in the past with good success. It is a spray on wipe off product but you go through a lot of towels. If the IPA really works, then maybe I'll try some rot gut whisky.

I haven't tried a lot of dedicated tire cleaners but adam's wheel and tire even cut 1:1 gets the browning off my tires after 1-3 rounds no problems. And you guys can get that stuff cheap in the States.

Maybe you guys are misunderstanding, I was cleaning tires with the hose and tire cleaners, and after I got done and had put everything away, I found a brown spot that I hadn't scrubbed enough, so I tried some IPA and it worked a treat.

I've found its best to apply tire coatings in direct sunlight.
I also apply 2 coats
Try it sometime 😉
