Any advice for learning paint correction on soft honda paint with meguiars mf system? Does any one have experience correcting soft paint with mf pads?

I do it every day and it's super easy with the Megs MF pads :). Go ahead and do a test spot first, you'll see how it comes out from there.

On soft Honda paint, I would first try a test spot with D302 on a finishing mf pad to see where that gets you. You may not even need to use D300 with a mf cutting pad.

How mf pads do I need to finish a civic?

Best way to clean on the fly and clean the mf pads?

I would grab 2 two packs for a total of four pads. If you are making the initial purchase, I would grab both the cutting and finishing mf pads in case you need to get more aggressive.

Best way to clean mf pads is with an air chuck. If you dont have one of these a pad brush will suffice.

Here is some reading on effectively using Meguiar's mf system.

You already bought the system?? If so then I would follow the previous advice do a test spot with the least aggressive route first.

I have not purchased it yet. Was hoping the finishing mf pad would be my first and only test. But know of a few spots too that might need the cutting pad as well.

Is the d300 and d302 the way to go or do you guys recommend just using m105 and m205? I have read that some recommend those.

Your better off with D300 and D302 as these were designed for use on the mf pads. Not saying you cant use M105 and M205, but your compounding and polishing experience will be better off with products designed for it's intended use.

Ok I'll just wait for a sale and get some new toys.

I have read plenty of good things of the mf system.

You don't need to use the MF system on soft Honda paint if you don't want to. I've been able to get very nasty swirled and marred up soft Honda paint to near 95% with Megs UC on an orange light cutting CCS pad with a GG6 with 6-8 passes. That many passes does take quite a bit of time with slow arm speed, so if you wanted to speed up the process, then the MF would probably be a choice to move along more quickly. My 2 cents.

I am actually planning to re-polish this car for spring/summer this weekend. Went straight to Coll 845 for the winter after the UC. Paint still looks great but the more refined polish should really bring out the gloss that I didn't quite get with just the UC last fall.

I was able to achieve a good correction with M101 and Meg MF pads. My tools consist of HF DA on speed 5 with 3-4 passes. This is on a 2000 honda accord.

M205 on a MF finishing disk can conquer an insane amount of defects while still finishing LSP ready on soft paint.

The key is keeping the pad clean by blowing out paint residue and spent product so that you do not cause any haze toward the end of the polishing cycle. I will normally blow out the pad 2 to 3 times while still working the same section (without adding more polish) to make sure the finish is haze free. M205 can be worked a very long time if needed.

Nicholas, I was really hoping be happy with just a one step with the MF finishing pad. It's a daily driver and is bound to get messed up again. Is m205 as good of an option to the d302?
