Was working on a gentleman's exterior the other day and he asked me if I had anything for his leather seats..... of course I do - OPT Leather Cleaner/Conditioner. I did an inconspicuous spot like I always do and BAM - made it look way worse! It changed the color and brought up some what Im assuming are covered stains. I have never seen this and was shocked - what to do for this?!?!?!?! He wants me to come out and hit them up in a week..... but Im almost afraid to touch these seats. Any Suggestions?

Maybe the"stain" you made is the original leather color lol.

Pics?

No - no pics... he said they used armor all on them - when I hear Armor All I hear sirens and told him he may want to stray away from using that.

Maybe his seats we're redone and the material came off during your test spot.

yikes if it was just basic armor all and not eve the leather care...it may be damaged

I don't know much about OPT leather cleaner conditioner but I have heard of situations where leatherique removed a cheap re-dye of leather seats that was used to cover a problem rather than fix it.

Exactly what I was thinking guys - is there a way to fix this though? They were off white seats - then when I applied the cleaner they turned dark drown and exposed some liquid stains - can you strip the dye then properly fix them? Or should I just say no to this job?!?!? Which I don't like doing...

Most leather is covered in plastic (including home furniture), the exception being high end European cars and the Ford King Ranch Edition. Most can be taken care of with Aerospace 303. What kind of car?

to be honest, I would just re-apply the armor all and see if it covers the spot back up, and call it a day. lol.

Not sure I would want to mess around much with this job to be honest.

If the customer like's armor all, than give him armor all. Let him use whatever makes him happy. :)

Optimum leather care I believe.

yep - thats it.... didn't feel like getting up to look at the name lol

Not a bad idea - but I already told him that armor all should be steered away from.... so already busted that idea with my big mouth lol.

I would turn it down. If nothing you do makes it better, it could make it allot worse. After all your test spot indicates that your dealing with a problem.

How is it going? Have you coped with your problem of leather seats?

Not yet - the guy left for home and said he would be back in either a week or in March..... so still wondering what I am gonna do or say.

I like to use a citrus based cleaner diluted 10:1. This will take out 90% of the dirt on the surface. If it doesn't then I will scrub it softly while I mist the product on top of the leather seats.
