What do you use to clean and protect the leather? On my old truck it gof pretty sad looking. Around the stitching it looked dirty and the grain was ashy. I'd like to prevent that on my currant vehicles and have a game plan for upkeep.

Lots of prods out there for this..everyone has a favorite. Keeping it clean is first of course, and Leatherique makes cleaners and conditioners, so does Megs...I use Griots Interior cleaner with a fine sponge, and then condition it on a monthly basis with their Leather Care solution. Sonax makes a nice foam as well, and works great. What I LIKE about the Leather Care from Griots is that like Sonax foam its easy to apply, smells rich and lasts..which at my age I am thankful. Then after it has been spread, and dries a bit, I buff it out with a good MircoFiber---BUT I keep our leather wheels conditioned a lot...but then I have the time, now. I have used a lot of prods, and like the GG leather care line. Good luck with it...just clean and condition often. The regularity of the care is what makes anything really work well. :props:

I use surf citys dash away. it cleans good and dont leave it sticky

1Z Einszett Leather Care

This is my favorite. Keeps the leather nice and supple. Doesn't have the most cleaners so I hit it with some DP interior cleaner or my new favorite Optimum Opti Clean

I use OPC (diluted) to clean the interior (based on several recommendations on this forum). I use Ultima Interior Guard for all of the leather but don't use it on the steering wheel.

The only leather I have in my car is on the steering wheel, shifter, and parking brake. I've tried several cleaners and dressing on all all of the other interior parts except the leather. I just didn't feel comfortable putting that stuff on the leather because of the greasy feeling. Even some leather product still feel greasy to me, so I've never put anything on my steering wheel.
Then I read CeeDog's reviews of Ultima Interior Shampoo Gel (it's not a gel) and Ultima Interior Guard Plus. He said he put it on SkyBaby's leather (including the steering wheel) and I figured that would be good enough for me.
The Interior Shampoo Gel is gentle but effective and I don't feel any residue being left behind.
The Interior Guard Plus is perfect for a leather steering wheel. The leather feels natural and clean and also softer to the touch than what I remember. It's expensive, but a little goes a long way. I put the Interior Guard Plus on everything in my car last week and you can't even tell by looking at the bottle. The bottle will last me more than two years for my two cars.

This is exactly why I made this post. I have used different products on leather seats with mixed feelings. Many I felt left a greasy feel. On my old truck I tried a few things but it was either slippery or sticky.

:iagree:

I use 1Z Cockpit Premium to clean and 1Z leather to condition. Works like a champ.

I'll give the Leather Master kit a try. Sunday evening I was cleaning the interior on my truck and the steering wheel needs to be cleaned. It looks like most of the dirt is built up around the stitching. On my TA I would us a horse hair toothbrush and clean it with some eagle one interior cleaner I had and it worked well but I want something that's actually made for leather since the steering wheel on the truck doesn't seem to have a coating
