LED headlamp. like, worn on your head. what are you using?

kinda handy for anything in life where a third hand would be handy, but particularly interiors. i have crazy lights overhead and on the sides but once i enter the cabin, unless the car is outside (which isn't practical most of the time), it's easier to have a light. welp, holding a light whilst cleaning interiors sucks ahaha.

Got my Black Diamond Spot yesterday and it is AWESOME.

This is my favorite light so far. Runs on either 2 x CR123 or 1 x Rechargeable 18650. I run a 3400 mAh 18650 EagleTac Protected cell in mine. The beam has no hot spots, the headband is comfortable and adjustable (fits my size 8 head with a hat on), and on Turbo mode it's extremely bright. The initial investment (lamp, cells, & charger) is high but it pays off over the life of the light.

I've been following this thread, I am really interested in a light like this as well. I am planning on ordering one too pretty soon.

Would you mind posting some pictures of how it reflects on paint, even better if it shows swirls?

Thanks,

Sure I can do that--give me 'til the end of the week and I'll try and get some good pics.

uhh, my Black Diamond Spot arrived today and it's amazing. i can't imagine needing anything more powerful than this haha.

the inner packaging SUCKS! but the lamp is ridiculously powerful/functional.

Rechargeable LED Lenser H72. Look for deals, but this light is freaking awesome.

Disclaimer: my cell phone camera didn't show even half of what the naked eye sees when looking at the paint, but I tried to take some decent pics. My cell camera would act up with I did a more direct reflection (the light was too powerful). The pics really don't do the LED justice, I'm more than happy with it. FYI - the max output is 130 lumens.

I did do a video to try and demo a little better: Black Diamond Spot LED headlamp - AGO - YouTube

I took a couple photos of the modes + the paint. My wife's Honda has some serious metallic flake and that made any scratches even harder to see.

I had polished this panel with Megs UC last year, not much to see.

the coolest feature of that thing imo is being able to adjust the power of each lamp. you can dim or increase it so easily and smoothly.

Umm... So I ordered one right now and I should be getting it today  lol

Off Topic: I also went with a new car insurance company. Also, I am going to go wet sand my hood right now and apply opti coat to it. brb :bolt:

(don't worry guys I'll take pictures) :props:

That, the strobe feature, and being able to angle it are pretty awesome. Great light for under $40!

I could be wrong, but I am starting to think that unless we have some hardcore lighting, like I'm sure Autogeek has, I know Meguiar's has and other high end shops have.

We who don't have those resources available and need different lighting for different types of situations. Just like which is the best polisher. Well we need different ones for different situations IMO.

I now have my florescent to light up the garage, my halogen shop light, my brinkman, DIY 3M sun gun and now this one. Each have there own place in my arsenal. Non of the ones I mentioned compare to the Meguiar's lights though.

Even my car parked outside in direct sunlight doesn't stand a chance to the lighting Meguiar's has lol. I bet Autogeek has some superb lighting as well.

I Googled - Paul Dalton lighting and this showed up.

That is some pretty serious lighting...sheesh. Good point about using diff types of lights....I have a single-car garage with one overhead florescent. I have a small halogen lamp that does well, but there is little room to use it. This light is the solution for me :-)

Just ordered this on EB for $27 shipped. Will let y'all know how it works
