The 3 panel LED at Home Depot is nice. Large center panel with 2 smaller wing panels that move back and forth to move light in different directions. 48 LED's and 2500 lumens. Many people like the single LED light too which is 1720 lumens. I have the 3 panel and love it. No heat from it either so it's ideal for summer weather.

I am looking forward to the day when we can purchase LED garage ceiling fixtures to replace the current fluorescent standard.
You can but unless you go Chinese off brand it's cost prohibitive right now. The Chinese off brand stuff is fine but you have to do your homework on getting the best prices and also on getting decent quality but most importantly SAFE lights. Some are not safe.
I hate fluorescent. Instant on helps but they still have their downfalls. Lots of heat generated in the ballasts plus there's always the Mercury argument. Halogens make a lot of light but are short lived and hot as hell. Xenon HIDs give off food light but take a lot of power and their ballasts also cause radio interference. They last awhile but are pricey to replace.
LEDs kind of offer unlimited potential in the future just need prices to come down. You can get them in any color temp you want noe. They work in any temperature, no warm up period. Turning them on and off does not hurt their lifespan like other lights it actually increases it. High end LEDs. Use PWM to pulse the light faster than your eyes can detect but this can double the bulbs life easily. LEDs can pack one hell of a punch in a little package. And the nicest part is they do all of this with very little power. If you are good with electronics you can buy the chips pretty cheap and make your own lights but you need some good heat dissipation for the high powered chips.
