lessons learned,cash earned

There is no way that the customer in this scenario would have split his own money with the detailer unless the customer viewed it as a tip. I think this is probably not a real story, but not only is this type of detailer behavior dishonorable, it is dangerous. I can only imagine the type of person who would try to bait someone into stealing a $100 out of his car. Seems like the same kind of guy who might think it's a game to take you out on a late late night trip deep into the desert to show you how much he appreciates that kind of thing.

Real or fake, forget it. This is why I never take a vehicle anywhere for any kind of work unless I absolutely have to. As said before I don't care what you find, you either put it back where you found it or bag it up.

I must say, I did have my heart jump once, took my car to a mechanic a friend recommended got in my stereo face is gone. WTF? Stereo was still there. Went in asked about it, "Oh sorry about that. It's under the front seat. I always remove them for security purposes." Ok good to know. He still gets my business and my referrals.

Strong troll thread...

Anyway, if "acquiring" customer's personal property was a common practice, I can't count the number of iPods, GPS', laptops and other nice items I would have by now. Oh, and if money is the only thing in question, when a customer leaves their credit card in the car, can I go on an online shopping spree? Score!

Any and all customer personal items get bagged/boxed up, put in the back of the car. Chargers and iPod connectors get re-connected. Baby/car seats are left unsecured to let the customer secure it properly. We always do a walk-through with the customer before returning the car and advise them of these things.

If I leave my wife under the floor mat do you think he will keep her? I don't even want half back.

never found any more money in his vehicles.
First reaction was you've got to be kidding then I got to this part. Obviously phoney, or a kid cause you keep the guys money you will never see him or his vehicles again.

although this has got to be a joke the problem is that there are lots of people like that in this business.

of course they are usually the ones that really can't detail a toilet let alone a car and end up working tunnel washes and creating more work for the rest of us.

This thread is great and this waxman (if real) is a thief!

Working at my dealership and doing my families, friends and friends of cars on the side, I can't imagine ever doing such a thing to anyone as this guy has!

Let me see...I've found at my dealership, credit/debit cards, bank account slips, checking books, electronics (gps, ipods etc...), along with cash and many other items and have never have taken any thing from my customers cars: always placed in the arm rest or glove box.
