So this truck was a recommendation from another client. The owner had taken the “FX-4” stickers off of the bed and it left markings that needed to be leveled out. So, the client assured me that it will be washed before I got there. Once I got there, I could tell what he had done. It had been taken through an automatic car wash!!!! I had to rewash it of course. Since I was only focusing on the paint, it didn’t take me too long. Once I shined my lights on the paint, I knew that I was in for a long time. So here we go!!

The paint was clayed with my clay mitt. I then used Meguiars m105 to level the paint. Some of body took more time than the others. This is due to the corners were scratched really bad from the brushes at the carwash. I then used 3D ONE for more leveling and polishing. The paint was then sealed with McKee’s paint sealant. Needles to say, he couldn’t believe the results!!!

Nice!

Good to see M105 in action again.

I'm toying with the idea of picking up a bottle and seeing how it works if I short cycle a higher volume of liquid than I used to.

The carwash wow. The detailers dream customer. The joy of handing the customer the freshly printed invoice with their reaction to all those numbers is priceless . Would think you hired the law firm office of C&V lol

Trouble is, owners like that, that let their vehicle get to the point that it was....don't appreciate all your work that went into it, nor value it. In no time the truck will be right back to the shape it was in before. Those owners simply don't think the same way we do.

Some do not know any better. I was in same boat a lotta years ago but now I cringe at the thought of the swirl o matic. We can only try and educate them and hope it sticks. It is a nice new truck. Hope he see’s the light & reflection and continues allowing you to keep it that way.

Great work

Ugh, I read Auto car wash and cringed.

Cringed even harder when I saw it was a black Platinum!

Good God, that's a 60k truck. SMH

Awesome save, bud.

Thanks guys! Yeah, this guy really don't care. When he told me that he had just washed it, I could still see grass hanging from the bumper. I then asked him if he hunts. He told me that he loves too. Then he says that he had been hunting the day before actually. I put two and two together and I now no that it was covered in mud. Then he takes it to the car wash. CRAZY!!!!!

Amazing turn around! I have some friends that "invest" in the unlimited monthly swirlorama washes. They sometimes will wash the car 4 times a week! I dont detail for money, but have refused to "buff thier car quickly" knowing they will just go back to the brush wash the next day.

Its interesting how most black cars will start to dull and look grey, because of all the scratches and swirls.

Great work and write up and pictures Prin!

This situation is like double edge knife. Are you going to educate and let the customer know how to properly take care of the truck. And that is also how the customer reacts on this and is ready to put in the work or $ to get it done. Or is he going to still be useing the swirlomatic car wash after the hunting trip and for maintance. How are you going to forward with this. Just accept the situation and get the most $ out of it. Or minimize the correction and just do an AIO and spruce up the gloss and save him the life of the clearcoat. You know what is right. But then you have the business aspects of it. If the customer wants the full correction and you don't do it. He will proberly go to another detailer that does it. It's not an easy choice to be doing which way to go. Your way where you think is acceptable or the customers way of doing it as you would not do.

Either way it's a nice truck and looks awesome when you have saved it.

How anybody could let a nearly $70,000 vehicle get trashed like that, and not care is beyond me. Nice save. Hope he keeps it looking that good.

Out of curiosity, what tires are those?

Great work! Let's hope that he never takes it back to a car wash!

the truck looks great

love the toyo open country AT 2s also, have them on my truck and they really perform well

My local Scratch City car wash advertises $19.99 a month for unlimited washes. That will definitely keep the local detailers in business. That was a lot of work put into that F150 with great results.
